Canadian Rockers Nickelback are gearing up to release their fourth album, and things are already in full swing. Their follow up to the multi platinum 2008 Dark Horse album, that featured hits like “Gotta Be Somebody”, “If Today Was Your Last Day”, and “Something in Your Mouth” will be titled Here and Now. Roadrunner Records has already released two singles that have been quickly circulating amongst fans and industry press alike in hopes of setting them up to be the radio staples that many know them as.
The first of the two singles is called “Bottoms Up”. Coming with a slightly harder edge guitar driven sound, “Bottoms Up” has been received generally well from a targeted core Rock audience. It is currently number 33 on the rock radio air play chart, and has been able to break the top 15 on the US Rock sales chart.
Meanwhile , on the other end of Nickelback’s latest musical one two punch is single number 2, “When We Stand Together”. For this one we are reminded of that old adage, that if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. “When We Stand Together” has what many would consider to be the Nickelback “brand” sound of radio ready pop rock. Thats why, there was no surprise that it too is being received well. Trade magazines announced that it is the most added song to radio play lists in the “Hot AC” radio format. What is important to note about that is, that if a song successfully gets it start on the Hot AC charts like a band like Nickelback more than likely would, music marketers would then ease the song into the pop mainstream elongating the potential of all radio play possible. If done right, we could once again be at the beginning stages of another classic Nickelback song dominating all the radio air waves around us. are you ready?
