Cash Money/Universal Motown Records Group has just released the latest music video from Lil’ Wayne’s forthcoming, Tha Carter IV. That video is for the song “John.” The song cleverly samples “If I Die Today”, from Rick Ross’s Teflon Don album, so naturally, Ross is a guest performer on the track. This is also why the song is often referred to as “John (If I Die Today)”. The video was directed by Colin Tilley. who is best known for directing the recent videos for Chris Brown, Diddy-Dirty Money among others.
“John (If I Die Today)” is the second single to be released from Wayne’s upcoming Tha Carter IV. It follows the double platinum single, “6 Foot, 7, Foot” which features new Young Money/Cash Money rapper, Corey Gunz. Like Jason Derulo’s recent single, “Don’t Wanna Go Home”, Wayne also sampled the Jamaican folk song, “The Banana Boat Song” for “6 Foot 7 Foot.”
Other than Corey Gunz, there are many other artists expected to contribute to Wayne’s new album. Some of those artists include, Nicki Minaj, Tech Nine, Jadakiss, Drake, Kevin Rudolf and others, A release date for Tha Carter IV has yet to be determined.
