As Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas album, Wrapped In Red was in high rotation on Adult Contemporary stations last month, many Pop music lovers have began itching for another official Pop album from the first American Idol winner. Well it looks like those fans are going to get what they want very soon! On Monday Kelly premiered her brand new single, after teasing it via Twitter last week. That song is, “Heartbeat Song” is the first official single from Kelly’s forthcoming album, now expected to have an early 2015 release from 19/RCA Records.
That album that has been in production since 2013, after the original release of Wrapped In Red, is now known to be called, Piece-By-Piece. Kelly began working on it despite going through a tough pregnancy at the time. It was originally intended for a 2014 release, but was pushed back to make room for RCA to release a re-issued version of Wrapped In Red for the Christmas season.
Piece-By-Piece will reunite Kelly with her frequent collaborator, producer Greg Kurstin. Greg worked with Kelly on her three previous releases Wrapped In Red, (2013) Greatest Hits (2012 single “People Like Us”) and Stronger (2011) before that. Kurstin serves as the producer of “Heartbeat Song” while Kara Dioguardi, Mitch Allan, Jason Evigan, and Audra Mae wrote it. Even though Clarkson herself is not credited as a writer, the song has some major personal significance to her as well. When promoting the new song on Elvis Duran’s syndicated morning show, Kelly revealed that her baby daughter, River played a very important role in the making of what is now appropriately called, “Heartbeat Song.”
“The beat is actually River’s heartbeat slowed down from when she was in my tummy!” Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock, welcomed their baby girl River Rose into the world on June 12, 2014. River’s unique contribution to the song makes her appearance in Kelly’s Twitter teaser video for the song that much more cute!
