Miley Cyrus Goes Public About Her Sexuality
Miley Cyrus took her support of the LGBT community to another level by opening up about her own sexuality and gender identity. In an exclusive with Out Magazine, the “Wrecking Ball” singer is quoted discussing her own struggle with gender expectations, and being resentful that she was a girl.
“I didn’t want to be a boy,” she clarifies. “I kind of wanted to be nothing. I don’t relate to what people would say defines a girl or a boy, and I think that’s what I had to understand: Being a girl isn’t what I hate, it’s the box that I get put into.”
In related news, Cyrus also came out about her sexual preferences during an interview with the Associated Press, stating that she’s been in both heterosexual and homosexual romantic relationships.
Her personal openness comes in tandem with the announcement of her recently debuted The Happy Hippy Foundation. As Clizbeats previously reported, The Happy Hippie Foundation believes everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and recognizes in the U.S. alone, more than 1.6 million young people are homeless, and 40% of those homeless youth identify as LGBT. Given Miley’s recent declarations, it makes perfect sense why this is a subject that she’s gotten behind so passionately. For More on her interview with Out Magazine click here.
