Madonna made headlines recently because of some controversial happenings that occurred during a concert of hers in Israel last week. Reports indicate that Madonna showed an image of the head of France’s National Front, political party, Marine Le Pen on a video screen with a swastika imposed on to her forehead. Le Pen, is considering the option of a legal response. In the mean time however, she took to The Daily Mail to give a very decisive and clear statement regarding the matter.
“We understand how old singers who need to get people talking about them go to such extremes … If she does that in France, we’ll be waiting.”
Le Pen’s National Front political party leans to the conservative right. It has a reported history of being accused of racism. Le Pen has pledged to to reform the party after she succeeded her father, Jean-Marie Le Pen last year. Jean-Marie Le Pen was a convicted racist and anti-Semite who is also a Holocaust denier.
