New Zealand pop star Lorde is accusing a paparazzo of stalking and invading her privacy. The 17-year-old recently lit twitter ablaze with tweets about the accused, Simon Runting, even posting his picture and facebook profile.
But it seems this is not the first time Runting has been accused of invading the lives of a pop superstar. Back in October, the paparazzo took pictures of Rihanna on her hotel balcony, resulting in RiRi comparing him to members of a former Fascist German Organization.
If that’s incident alone was not enough evidence to the contrary, Runting was the defendant in one of the most famous privacy cases in New Zealand history.
The case, Hosking v Runting, came about after Runting photographed and published pictures of the infant twins of New Zealand TV presenter Michael Hosking. The case’s outcome found that though the publishing of the photos where legal, the family (and all others following) would be able to sue the Runting(and other paparazzo) for Damages.
As of right now, no charges have been filed, and no damages have been seeked by the teen pop star, but she is still adamantly raising awareness to Runting’s actions. In a subsequent tweet, Lorde added,“I refuse to stay complicit and i refuse to stay passive about men systematically subjecting me to extreme fear.”
