Lil Wayne’s tireless work ethic has always been something of legend in the Hip Hop community. Well now as the song “Pop That” enters the Hip Hop/R&B Billboard Chart this week at number 57 he has proof of it that reaches a whole new level. How? Because this is one of the clearest examples in Hip Hop music today that numbers simply don’t lie.
“Pop That” is by Maybach Music Group and Bad Boy Records rapper French Montana. The song also features, Maybach leader Rick Ross, the currently controversial Drake, and YMCMB head, Lil Wayne. Although It is French’s song, this otherwise standard Billboard chart entry is significant because of Lil Wayne. “Pop That” marks the 100th time that Wayne has been placed on Billboard’s Hip Hop/R&B chart. Billboard says that this goal has only been achieved twice before in the history of the chart, and only one of them was a rapper. Those two artists were James Brown and Jay-Z.
In true Wayne fashion, he isn’t even close to resting on this historical achievement. He is right around the corner from releasing his I Am Not A Human Being II
In addition to relentlessly rolling out with all kinds of music Wayne is also teaming up with his friend DJ Scoop to launch BreadOverBed.com. The yet to be fully launched site will be dedicated to chronicling Wayne’s unflinching work ethic, and celebrate other celebrities that put the passion of their work above all else. Our hat is off to him wanting to celebrate work ethic with what appears to be the beginnings of a positive media source.
The release date for I Am Not A Human Being II has yet to be set at this point. However, if you are too impatient to wait until a date is know, show him French Montana and the rest of the gang some love by checking out “Pop That” below. French Montana’s Excuse My French album is also still yet to be determined.
