In the last two years the multitalented Singer/Producer/Actor Justin Timberlake has made movie making his priority. He has come out with four major motion pictures, and with Hollywood all a buzz for everything Timberlake, he’s clearly far from slowing down. Now for his next role, JT is using that built up film making acclaim to return to the music world in an entirely new way. It was announced yesterday Via Deadline.com that Timberlake will star in Spinning Gold, a biopic of famous 1970s record producer Neil Bogart, co-founder of Casablanca Records. One of the coolest things about Justin taking on this movie is his natural relationship to the the real life music industry, and how he will be able to use it to make a greater impact on the film. One of the ways he will be making that impact is by having a production role in making the film. Being that this film is rooted in the music world, hopefully, his involvement as a producer will provide some of the same kind unique insight creativity that he already applies when producing and performing any of his various hit tracks.
For production of the film, JT joins the team of indie media company Boardwalk Entertainment Group. The significance of Boardwalk Entertainment is that it was launched by Bogart’s sons, writer-producer-director Timothy Scott Bogart, songwriter and music publisher Evan “Kidd” Bogart, and TV producer Gary Randall. The film will chronicle the Brooklyn based rags to riches story rising from being a poor Jewish kid to become a multimillionaire responsible for the careers of artists like KISS, Parliament, Donna Summer, and The Village People.
“This is saga about a young dreamer who started with nothing and came of age in the ’60s and ’70s, believing anything was possible and every risk was worth taking,” said Tim Bogart, noting that Spinning Gold has been “literally three decades in the making. “We needed an young actor who can carry this picture,” Bogart said. “Someone suggested Timberlake, and the producers set up a meeting with him. “When Justin walked into the room, that was the moment I had been waiting for 29 years. “He has the exact same energy as my father, the same glimmer in his eye.”
On a side note, Evan “Kidd” Bogart is the manager/producer of Clizbeats’ Indie Artist Spotlight artist, ZZ Ward. Check her out here.
