Back in May we published an article on Pop star Jojo and the development of her forthcoming third album Jumping Trains. At that time we were introduced to her song, “The Other Chick”, a song that was originally intended to be the lead single from the album. As her fans know, it turned out to be one of a few promotional “buzz” singles that Jojo made during the album’s creation. That decision was made after Jojo went back into the studio and recorded more material for the project.

The label decided to release one of the new songs as the lead single instead of “The Other Chick”   despite the change, JoJo was still excited about using the song as an opportunity to re-introduce herself to fans. She commented on this this to muumusic.com.

“It’s something cool that’ll introduce people to a more mature me, I suppose. It’s edgy, but it’s a buzz single.”[  “The Other Chick” was also quickly released in May by her label to fight a leak, after an unfinished version was leaked online.  Now a few months later, Jojo has released her new lead single from the album called, “Disaster. Jojo recently discussed why they chose to release one of the new songs in a June interview with Hollywoodthewriteway, com. “We got to the studio and made a few records that the label flipped over. So we thought that maybe we should re-evaluate the plan and go with one of those tracks [as the lead single]. I’m totally comfortable with that. All of these songs are my baby so I’m not necessarily attached to one more than the other. So our plan right now is to shoot another video and move forward, go to radio, and do all of that stuff for one of the new songs”

“Disaster” is a mid-tempo break up song about reflecting on a relationship and wondering how it became a disaster. It was written by Gino Barletta, Mario Marchetti, and Jojo herself. It was produced by Marchetti as well. Mario is an up and coming producer and engineer from the San Francisco bay area. He began to make a name for himself after working with acts like Digital Underground, The Outlawz, E-40, Too Short, and many others.

“Disaster” was officially released on August 29th. Jojo first performed the song at Perez Hilton’s MTV VMA Charity event, two days before its release. The video for the song was filmed recently and it became Jojo’s first song to chart on the Billboard Singles chart since her 2006 hit, “Too Little Too Late.” Jojo’s Jumping Trains album is now finally complete after being in production since 2008. The title of the project represents all the changes in her life that occured in that time.

In a viral video posted on Rap Up.com Jojo explained the meaning behind the title.”My third album will be called Jumping Trains and it’s very symbolic for a variety of reasons… Moving from Boston to L.A., transitioning from being a girl to being a young woman, living on my own, taking a different direction sonically, and just really finding myself and just jumping into a new chapter of life.” The album is now due in stores and online in early 2012 from Streamline/Blackground/Interscope Records.
