Hip Hop Mogul Jay- Z was in Philadelphia today to announce that he would headline Budweiser’s Made In America festival which is also set to take place in Philly on September 1st and 2nd. Few other details were revealed about who else would participate in the festival, but he did promise an “eclectic selection of acts”, that would play on three stages. Although no other acts were announced, ?uestlove of Hip Hop band The Roots took to Okayplayer.com to post a message that by all accounts appears to be in conjunction with Jay’s announcement.
“rival Philly’s Live Aid from ’85” and he stated that “of all the major players this year in America (Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Essence) THIS one is the sure shot bullseye festival.”
A portion of The Made In America proceeds are intended to benefit The United Way. United Way Worldwide is an organization that provides leadership and support for a network of nearly 1,800 community-based United Ways in 45 countries and territories. It sounds like an opportunity to have quality music help a quality cause. We’ll keep you posted as more details are made available to us.
