James Brown To “Get On Up” TO The Silver Screen

By Andrew McMahon

The biography of James Brown is grooving it’s way onto the silver screen. Universal has released it’s first trailer for the upcoming biopic, Get On Up, staring Chadwick Boseman as the Godfather of Soul.

Boseman is no stranger to landing the lead role in a biopic, starring in the 2013 film titled 42, as hall of fame baseball player Jackie Robinson. His experience, alongside other critically acclaimed talents such as Dan Aykroyd, Octavia Spencer, and Craig Robinson, have raised the expectations for the film exponentially. Those expectations can be a double edge sword though, because though hype is always important  to success, the film has to be as good as the buzz surrounding it.

Luckily for them, the charismatic soul man lived a plentiful and exciting life. From his impoverished childhood, to his time in prison, to his rise to fame, Brown experienced plenty of events that are more then capable telling a great story.

Get On Up is set to release in U.S theaters on August 1, 2014. We can only speculate as to whether the film will have us glued to our seats, or will makes us want to get on up and leave, but in the meantime check out the trailer below.
