Is Jay Sean Finally Ready To Release A New Album In America?
After many delays for one reason or another, it finally looks like Cash Money Records Pop star, Jay Sean is gearing up to release his second project for American audiences. Signs of this possibility came from the fact that VEVO recently featured the US premiere of his music video for “So High,”, and Cash Money/Republic has just released a new American single called “Where You Are.” Talk of this album first began in 2010 under the working title Freeze Time. At the time Jay’s singles “2012 (It Ain’t The End)” (From August 2010) and “Hit The Lights” (From January 2011) were both intended to appear on the album, respectably going Platinum and Gold in the US. However after what Jay characterized as “legal issues” in Clizbeats’ 2012 interview with him, the album was delayed. He went into detail about those legal issues and the album’s delay in a February 2013 interview with Rap Up TV as well.

As a result of the delays Jay mentioned, his collaboration with Pitbull that he refers to in our Clizbeats interview that became “I’m All Yours” (May 2012), was released, not as a part of the album, (which was then tentatively being called Worth It All) , but as part of an EP. That EP was the So High EP, which was released outside of the United States and eventually helped “I’m all Yours” even reach platinum status in Australia. It featured the title track, which became a huge dance hit as well, thanks to the beat banging production by Afrojack. Jay got massive exposure for the song down under as well, by performing it on the Australian version of X Factor. As if that wasn’t enough to help boost his profile, Jay released the music video for a remix of his song “Sex 101” in July of 2012. That version of the song, which is featuring Tyga, is also included on the So High EP (The original was found on Jay Sean’s latest mixtape, The Mistress) Thanks to its wide exposure on Worldstarhiphop.com, the video received over 7 million hits in just 48 hours. It was later posted on his VEVO account where it received another 3 million views.
Now as 2013 is well under way, “So High” has become a top 5 single on the Billboard Dance chart in the United States, and that long awaited second American album is now scheduled for release in May 2013. To help re-energize everyone about the album, Cash Money/Republic Records has released a new song called, “Where You Are” proportionally on February 26th. The album is also not being called Freeztime or Worth It All any longer. As the project was rebooted, so was it’s title and image. It is now being called, Neon, and will most likely feature all of the previously mentioned Jay Sean hits that the majority of his American fans missed out on. Just as it has for quite some time now, details on Neon will continue to change, so keep on checking in with us here at Clizbeats.com for more information as it becomes available!
