Dustin Tavella “Everybody Knows (your boyfriend is a douchebag)"

Just as Helen of Troy was the face that launched a thousand ships in Greek Mythology, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber had the romance that launched the American leg of “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen’s career.  It was only a little over a year ago now when the Pop star power couple got together with friends Ashley Tisdale, and Big Time Rush on Grammy Week, to film their “home movie” lip sync video to Carly’s then only Canadian known “Call Me Maybe”, and effectively creating an instant viral video buzz that that helped cause the song’s craze in the US.  Now it looks like another fresh face is benefiting from their viral power as they break up.  His name is Dustin Tavella, and his song is “Everybody Knows (Your Boyfriend Is A Douchebag)”.

The song began making waves in mainstream Pop/music press when, like with Carly Rae, Selena appeared in a viral video with friends, dancing to it.  She then published a 1:19 clip of it to her You Tube channel on March 9th. It has earned over 100 thousand views, and got him some really awesome exposure in the process.

After looking into who he was, we learned that Dustin is a guy that appears to have collected a lot of good karma, and it is paying off in a big way.  We went to his website and learned that he identifies himself as a humanitarian who has spent that last 5 years traveling the world, helping the homeless, drug addicts, and reformed prostitutes.  He then found his musical talent, and realized he could effect people for the better through his songs.  He then moved from his home in Philadelphia to LA, where he’s currently working on his debut.

As for Selena, when she isn’t helping launch the careers of deserving up and comers, she’s been shedding whatever’s left of her Disney Channel image for the super sexy and mature role in the indie thriller flick, Spring Breakers. The film that co-stars Oz The Great And Powerful‘s James Franco and Rapper, Gucci Mane is set for release at the end of the month.  It looks really interesting, and will probably have us looking at Selena Gomez in a whole new way.  Check the trailer out below as well.  Cheers!
