#ICYMI: Iggy Azalea Breaks Twitter At American Music Awards

Following one of the biggest music news oriented weekend of the year, fans and blogs alike have been steadily pumping their thoughts and analysis into the web about this past weekend’s American Music Awards, and we’re not going to be any different. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Australia’s pop/hip hop breakthrough Iggy Azalea dominated the majority of Twitter based chatter when she and Charlie XCX performed their mega hit, “Fancy” and latest effort, “Beg For It”. The often debated about white rapper ushered in the most tweets per minute for the event, and that wasn’t even including her show stopping performance of “Booty” with Jennifer Lopez.
Perhaps some of the buzz grew out of the fact that last night’s AMA win was, as said in her own words, the first award she’s ever won. Shortly before the performance that set Twitter a blaze Iggy took home her first of what would be 2 awards for the evening, best rap album for her debut, The New Classic and then joined her executive producer, Grand Hustle Rapper and label head T.I. to politely give thanks.
Much is often said about Iggy and the authentication of her role in the hip hop genre, but we thought that in both occasions that had her come out as the winner, Ms Azalea presented herself with a calm but confident humility and respect that she deserves a tip of the hat for.
