#ICYMI: Web Celebrate’s All Eyez On Me Trailer As Snoop Dogg Inducts Tupac Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
In case you missed it, last week was one of the biggest weeks ever in the history of both rap music and the legacy of the one and only Tupac Shakur. With a seemingly serendipitous timing that was 21 years in the making, Summit Entertainment/Lionsgate released the latest, trailer for Tupac biopic All Eyez On Me to the welcomed praise from both fans and the entertainment industry alike. This reaction was echoed in a much more personal way from his former label mate and longtime friend Snoop Dogg, who only hours later on the following day, gave a heartfelt and personalized speech while inducting him in the rock and roll hall of fame. In his speech, Snoop, discussed the Tupac legacy, what their friendship mean to him personally, and gives specific insight into who Tupac the was as a whole person underneath his celebrity. A great example of this is when Snoop details personal memories of when he went parasailing with Tupac and now infamous former label head of Death Row Records, Suge Knight.
As one can see from the trailer above, Tupac’s layered career, which included groundbreaking work in hip hop, acting, and social activism, skyrocketed him to rare, generation defining status of fame, and an equally infamous death that is still debated over and rumored about 21 years later. Tupac died as the result of a gang related shooting that has sparked plenty of speculation, but has as of now has officially gone unsolved.
Hopefully Snoop and others close to the icon get to see a fair and well rounded portrayal of this multi-faceted superstar that was tragically taken too soon. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on the 21st anniversary of his death, June 16th, 2017. Enjoy Snoop’s speech below.
