In case you missed it, music and TV mogul Simon Cowell has announced that he will be replacing shock jock Howard Stern on America’s Got Talent. Cowell went public about his new role at the NBC talent competition when he called in to the On Air With Ryan Seacrest radio show on Friday. His chat with Seacrest, who also hosts Fox’s American Idol, naturally led to Cowell discussing Idol as well. As many know, Simon Cowell had a leadership role in the development and presentation of American Idol, serving as a music liaison and judge for the show, until he left in 2011 to develop an American version of his hit UK show, X Factor.
When Ryan asked if he would return to Idol for the farewell season, Cowell was quoted as saying, “We’ll 100 percent have to work something out.” For Information on Open call auditions, or submitting one online, go to AGTAuditions.com. Audition dates will take place in 12 cities, including Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and San Jose. American Idol’s farewell Season is set to kick off with a two-night, four-hour premiere on Wednesday, January 6th and Thursday, January 7th. Click here for more from Ryan’s interview.
