This story was too funny not to share. Yesterday we saw this great story former *NSYNC member, Lance Bass shared as a panelist on The Meredith Vieira Show in a recent episode. In a segment called “Someone’s Got A Secret”, Lance revealed how he accidently got into a fight with Michael Jackson backstage at a show. At the time *NSYNC and MJ were friendly, and frequently collaborated. Jackson joined *NSYNC on stage during their performance of their single “Pop” at the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards. *NSYNC then returned the favor by appearing as part of The Michael Jackson: 30th Anniversary Special. It was a two-night New York City review that was performed on September 7, 2001 and September 10, 2001. This concert celebration at Madison Square Garden was tapped and edited together for a TV special for CBS to be broadcast in November 2001. It was intended to help promote Jackson’s final album, (not including posthumous releases) Invincible.
Based on what Lance was saying in this video clip, we believe that this argument between Lance and MJ took place around the time of the 30th Anniversary Special. From what we can put together, it looks like *NSYNC was finished performing “Dancing Machine” with MJ, he wanted everyone to join him on stage to perform “Heal The World.” However, according to Lance that extra performance did not quite fit into his schedule. At the time he and his band-mate, Joey Fatone were expected to be at the premiere of their film, On The Line. It was a film that both Lance and Joey starred in for Miramax Films, and Lance was a producer, that did not seem to faze Jackson, because when Lance told him he had to leave, MJ told him that, “it was for the children.” When Lance laughed in response, thinking he was joking, it did not go over well. Apparently Michael was not joking at all, he was dead serious. You will see in the clip below that Lance said that Michael did not talk to him for a year after that. That was such a unique Michael Jackson story, we just had to share it with you, check it out below.
