#ICYMI: Miley Cyrus Enlightens Jimmy Kimmel Live Viewers With Attention Grabbing Showgirl Costume

In case you missed it, this year’s Video Music Awards host Miley Cyrus turned heads when she appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live toplessI Appeasing network censors with pasties appropriately placed on her breasts, Miley rocked, what could arguably be described as a Las Vegas showgirl’s attempt at a superhero costume.  As you can see from the video, she was shirtless with a spangled cloak/capish thing while chatting things up.  Naturally, this gave the pair a lot to talk about. First up, Jimmy tried to politely address the more obvious, “shock value of her appearance.

” I know you probably get asked this all the time, and I apologize,” Kimmel said. “I have a 23 year old daughter what does your dad say when he turns on the TV and he’s like…?”

After some playful follow up jokes, Cyrus responded by saying,

“My dad’s cool because, you know, I’m sure he maybe rather not have my t**s out all the time, but he’d rather me have my t**s out and be a good person, than have a shirt on and be a bitch.”

“I see a lot of people with their clothes on and they’re kinda A** h***s.” she continued.

When you got your t**s out, you can’t really be an A** h***” said Cyrus. Watch the whole interview segment in the related video above.

Directly challenging conformity and perceptions of things, which are clearly two of post Disney Miley’s favorite things to do, we see  a running theme on her episode of JKL.  Participating in a segment known as “I Witness News” Miley dressed in cognate as an Australian reporter, doing a “man on the street” opinion piece about what people think of her because she’s hosting this year’s VMA’s. The mix of her scantily clad in studio interview and this”I Witness” segment said turned out to be quite a statement as a whole.

JKL’s “I Witness News” feature, in large part, creates a live action version of what people do, venting anonymously online, in a way that immediately reminds, if not the person venting at the time, the audience, of a public figure’s often forgotten humanity.  We thought it was great that this done with Miley in particular because she’s become such a target of general criticism. Following her recent declaration regarding sexual identity and gender roles, her sensationalized talk show look, morality chat, and receiving of on the street criticism to her face, can definitely serve as a large reminder to judge people based on how they treat others, not because they look and act in a way that we as an individual may, at a glance, deem socially strange.

Subtle enlightenment. Not bad for some late night comedy right?
