By now everyone is talking about their favorite moments from last night’s American Music Awards, but that wasn’t the only awesomeness in the music world that happened over the weekend that is worth recapping. As promised in our previous posts, Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson did a fantastic job “funking” up SNL on Saturday. The duo first teamed up to perform their smash single, “Uptown Funk” from Ronson’s forthcoming fourth album, Uptown Special. Then they kept it going with their premiere performance of the album’s new track, “Feel Right..”

From Saturday Night Live
Ever since it’s release, “Uptown Funk” quickly became one of the most talked about songs in Pop music before it even hit the charts, as one of the most universally praised and highly anticipated songs of the year. Brennan Carley of Spin Magazine talked about how well Bruno and Ronson’s sounds continue to blend together since first working together on Bruno’s Unorthodox Jukebox.. He noted “It’s a definite step towards more classic funk for Ronson, who has a history of dabbling in heavy horn sections and walking guitar solos”. He also made sure to tell music fans to prepare to hear this song a lot by saying, “Mars’ voice keeps things light and bubbly though, making “Uptown Funk” the kind of song you’ll be unable to escape on the radio in a matter of days.”
Well now music fans are not only unable to escape the song on radio, but TV as well! The song’s music video hit the web and the airwaves early last week, and everyone loves watching Bruno and his Hooligans get down with Mark in a classic, yet still funky fresh way! That style that was first introduced in the video, was transferred perfectly by showing the two Grammy winners at their best in the NBC studio! And now there is proof that America is hooked, because after Mark and Bruno hit the SNL stage, “Uptown Funk” became one of the top selling tracks on the Hot Digital Singles chart. With that said, its obvious that the critics aren’t the only ones loving Mark’s new funky sound. As if that wasn’t enough, they continued their James Brown inspired sound by re-introducing New Orleans rapper, Mystikal to the world.

“Uptown Funk” (Explicit)
From Uptown Special
Back when he was riding high off of the success of his breakthrough hit “Shake Ya Ass” in the early 2000s, Mystikal was once called the “James Brown of Hip Hop” by critics and many of his peers. Now he is proving that to be true in a way you have never seen before. Mystikal, Mark and Bruno continued to funk up the stage with the premiere performance of their song, “Feel Right.” The song presents the New Orleans rapper in a way he’s never been heard/seen before, yet strangely enough, when we all did see him on that stage kicking it old school, it felt oh so right. It is a track that like “Uptown Funk” is what you get when you mix the songwriting talents of Mark Ronson with the sound of Bruno and his team, The Smeezingtons, mix it up into something funky, and this time, put just the right amount of Mystikal on top of it. And Oh what an infectious blend it is. After seeing their high energy performance, everyone is probably curious about how Mystikal’s raspy voice came out in the studio version of the track. Well wait no longer, you can check out the new lyric video for “Feel Right” below! If you are feelin’ the funk., you can get it instantly when you pre-order Mark Ronson’s Uptown Special, which is due on January 27th from RCA Records.
