#ICYMI: Jared Leto’s “Rock Star Joker” Will Affect The Rest Of His Life

In case you missed it, Jared Leto’s Joker exploded on to the front cover of Empire magazine, showing off that his rock star roots have melded perfectly into the modern day look of the clown prince of crime.
The Grammy award-winning singer/actor discussed the method acting mind games that helped him become and stay in the demented character of the joker.
“There was definitely a period of … detachment,” Leto, who sent his costar Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) a dead rat as a prank, said (via to ComicBookMovie.com). “I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time, it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole.” He also revealed how his twisted interpretation of the Joker is different from Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger’s onscreen performances.
“I always get the sense that the Joker may be much older than people think,” he said. “It’s something different. If you don’t break rules, you’re not going to strike new ground. I think I’ll be cooling down for the rest of my life.”
Jared and friends’ Batman inspired adventure film Suicide Squad, co-staring Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith, and Viola Davis hits theaters this summer. We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see Jared’s rock star Joker!
