The Internet reacted almost unanimously about the Wendy Williams executive produced Lifetime TV movie, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. You’d have to be living under a rock to not know that the movie was universally panned by critics, industry professionals, and fans alike. Put simply, this is because there were a ton of problems that stood in the way of making authentication of this story happen in a way that would satisfy anyone that had an inkling of knowledge about the real Aaliyah. Most notably, it was very well known that the late singer’s family did everything in their power to see that the movie wasn’t made.

While that should have been enough of a red flag to indicate to Lifetime and all related producers  that it was a nice idea that shouldn’t have stayed at the idea stage of development without all the proper blessings, production eventually continued on to make a film that was not only stunted by the lack of 95% of the real Aaliyah’s music, but also by  a lack of factual accuracy, and ultimately good taste. To provide context about the magnitude of the situation in a way that we believe is both well informed and unfiltered, we suggest that you check out the very thorough and unforgiving thoughts of  Power 10.5’s Charlamagne Tha God.

The always controversial Charlamagne breaks things down in a step by step thrashing that we actually believe paints the circumstances of the situation in a fair light. It is also extremely entertaining. Check out his “Donkey Of The Day”  segment from this morning via Revolt TV and Power 105 FM.
