#ICYMI: Beck Agrees With Kanye West About The Grammys

Beck & Kanye West At The 57th Annual Grammy Awards

As you know, last night was the Grammys, and true to form, Kanye West has seen to it that he would get the biggest headlines of music’s biggest night The reason why happened very quickly, so in case you missed it, we’ll review the incident, and  briefly  discuss its aftermath.

If you didn’t watch The Grammys last night, chances are that you turned on your TV and or computer afterwards and saw that Kanye was inches away from repeating the award show disrupting behavior of the 2009 MTV VMA’s that has forever publically linked him to Taylor Swift, and his music industry sister of sorts, Beyonce. Similar to when he stormed the VMA sage and infamously told Taylor Swift, “Ima let you finish,… but Beyonce had one of the greatest videos of all time,” West invited himself to join alternative rocker Beck on stage when the singer was being awarded the album of the year Grammy for his Morning Phase album.

Although it wasn’t initially clear because he didn’t go beyond taking the stage to commandeer the microphone like he did in 09, West went records with E! News after the Grammys to register his now widely known disgust with the fact, that once again, Beyonce didn’t win.  The thing we didn’t expect to hear in the aftermath of all of this is that Beck agrees with Kanye.

“I was so excited he was coming up! He deserves to be on that stage,” said Beck. And, like West, the “Blue Moon” singer predicted Beyoncé would take home top honors. “Absolutely I thought she was going to win,” Beck said at a Universal Music Group after-party.

“Come on!” he added. “She’s Beyonce!”

“You can’t please everybody. I still love him and think he’s genius,” Beck told People. “I aspire to what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years, right?”

Kanye on the other hand vented to E! News post show cameras, and used the incident as an opportunity to address his frustration with the recording academy’s current voting system.  As you’ll see from the video, he plans to do his part to change things.
