While we were on break over the holiday weekend, the news broke that Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead singer of vet alternative Rock band Green Day was Rushed to the hospital while on tour in Bologna, Italy, on Sunday. Little more has been officially said regarding the specific reasons why he was hospitalized. Green Day’s bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tré Cool apologized to fans in a video posted on the band’s website.
Armstrong’s health issues come on the heals of what was an already busy schedule for him and the band. In addition to Armstrong taking time out to be an advisor on NBC’s music competition show The Voice, the band has also been hard at work setting up the release of their latest album ¡Uno! which is due to hit stores on September 25th. It is the first of what will be an album trilogy. That trilogy of three connected, but separately released albums are appropriately titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tres!. ¡Dos!, and ¡Tres! are also set to be released on November 13 and January 15. Check out the music video to ¡Uno!’s first single “Oh Love” below.
Green Day is scheduled to hit the stage next in Las Vegas the iHeartRadio Music Festival. NBC’s season of The Voice featuring Armstrong is scheduled to debut September 10th. Hopefully everything will be back to normal health wise for the band soon.
