GRAMMY NOMINATED SINGER-SONGWRITER BONNIE MCKEE TO JOIN KARMIN ON THE #PULSESTOUR STARTING APRIL 6

Bonnie McKee

Rising pop star and Grammy nominated songstress Bonnie McKeewill join Karmin on the second leg of the duo’s #PULSESTOUR kicking off April 6 at the House of Blues in Dallas, TX.  Karmin are on the road supporting the release of their debut album Pulses which is being released on March 25th. Known for her charming presence and contagious energy, Bonnie is primed to deliver an unforgettable set every night at theaters and clubs across the states.

Bonnie McKee remains one of the industry’s go-to hit-making songwriters and was named pop’s “Best Secret Weapon” by Rolling Stone.  She’s penned number one hits for the likes of Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Taio Cruz, just to name a few.  She also snagged her very first Grammy Award nomination this year in the category of “Song of The Year” for co-writing Katy Perry’s smash “Roar”. Now, she’s stepping into the spotlight herself.

As she embarks on the #PULSES TOUR, McKee is also in the midst of finishing up her debut EP for Epic Records/Kemosabe Records. Preceded by the summer hit “American Girl”, which racked up 13 million views and counting on YouTube/VEVO, the new collection will drop later this year.  As an artist, she taps into a fresh, fun, and fiery sound, combining anthemic hooks and clever songwriting.  The EP will be a colorful and exciting collection of songs, covering a wide range of emotions, everything from heart-break to perseverance to addiction and lust.

McKee’s ability to deploy pitch-perfect pop cultural references that are both affectionate and satirical is rooted in a childhood growing up in the ’80s. At 16, she signed with Warner Bros. Records and released her major-label debut. But when things didn’t work out as planned, she decided to focus on writing for other artists. Her career got a major boost when she was introduced to songwriter-producer Dr. Luke in 2009 and began writing with him and Max Martin. The trio turned out hit after hit, including Perry’s five Hot 100 chart-toppers “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F),” “Part of Me,” and “Wide Awake,” which helped earn McKee consecutive BMI Pop Awards in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
