Legendary New York DJ Funkmaster Flex is reportedly working on a book about the life and career of the late rapper Notorious B.I.G.. Flex is said to be writing the book with journalist Karen Hunter, who has co-authored books previously with Queen Latifah, Wendy Williams, LL Cool J, and Donda West. The book is set to be released by publisher Simon & Schuster.
Funkmaster Flex has already dropped some bombs about some little known facts regarding Biggie that will be addressed in his forthcoming book. For instance, Flex says that he was the one that first introduced Biggie to fellow hip hop legend Nas.
“I introduced Big to Nas on my block in Brooklyn. Nas came by to visit my sister, and I went and brought Big to the house. Nas had Illmatic out at the time… ”
Another bomb that Flex is said to mention in his upcoming book is that Notorious B.I.G.’s hip hop classic “Who Shat Ya” was originally supposed to be the intro to Mary J. Blige’s album.
“The song “Who Shot Ya” was originally an intro for Mary J. Blige’s album. Uptown/MCA said it was too hard. The song in its original form had a verse from Big, Keith Murray and LL Cool J, though LL never did his verse. The song still exists.”
A release date for Funkmaster Flex and Karen Hunter’s forthcoming book about the life and career of Notorious B.I.G. has not yet been released.
