Eminem Sets Records w/”Not Afraid” and Joins Puff Daddy in the #1 Club!

Eminem appears to be getting his status as Rap royalty back with no contest. In the digital era of the music business where it is exceptional for a single to sell one hundred thousand copies legally, Eminem has been able to sell nearly one million copies of his single, “Not Afraid” since its official release on April 29th. These numbers help put Eminem in some very exclusive company. This is because the combined CD single/digital sales along with his significant increase in radio air play has allowed “Not Afraid” to become one of 16 songs to make its debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 at number one! “Not Afraid” is also only the second Hip Hop single to ever do this next to “I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy & Faith Evans Featuring 112! With that said it is safe to say that Eminem’s forthcoming seventh studio album, Recovery is one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
Hot off the buzz of “Not Afraid” many fans and media outlets are already looking at the track list of Recovery for future radio/video singles. However when listening to the album, it may be more difficult to pick another radio single than one may think. Much of the album has a very serious tone to it that some of the songs can appear too personal to be your typical radio Eminem song.
Despite that however, even Eminem is calling on Rihanna to help provide some of her soulful vocals to help add to his artistic vision. Rihanna appears on the song, “Love The Way You Lie”, a song that vividly describes his inner most feelings in a love/hate disfunctional relationship. This intense concept is assisted by the production of Alex Da Kid, the man who helped produced “Airplanes ” by B.O.B. Featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore, and “Airplanes Part 2” on which Eminem is also a featured performer. So far “Love The Way You Lie” is taking off at Top 40 Rhythmic radio, 10 statsions are already playing it, while the song’s spins already continue to grow. Also with Rihanna singing guest vocals on the track, it is one of the album’s most radio friendly despite its intense subject matter. For those of you who have not yet heard it, take a listen!
