Eminem Revives “Rap City” With The Success Of “Marshal Mathers LP 2”Eminem
Eminem released his Marshall Mathers LP 2 yesterday, and to little surprise he’s expected to dominate the charts. Early reports indicate that Billboard expects MMLP2 to top the Billboard 200 chart next week. The word is that Slim Shady’s eighth album is expected to have moved something between 700,000 and 750,000 units. That would mean that MMLP2 would earn the second best first week numbers of 2013, behind Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience.
As reported by AllHipHop.com, the Hip Hop world couldn’t be happier to welcome the massive success of this album Yesterday Stephen Hill, BET’s famed VP of music and programming, announced that for one night only the network would revive its seminal Hip Hop show Rap City, also known as Rap City: Da Basement to air a special episode dedicated to Eminem and his Marshall Mathers LP 2 album.
This very special episode airs tonight at 6PM EST. Prior to its cancelation in 2008 Rap City was a leading presence in the world of Hip Hop related media. It began as one of the primary competitor of MTV’s Yo MTV Raps in 1989, and ran for 20 years. The Show prided itself in not only featuring hit Hip Hop stars, but also developing up and comers.
