The 2016 American Music Awards nominations are now out! Joe Jonas and Rachel Platten took over Time Square and Good Morning America on Monday morning to announce the 2016 AMAs nominees.

Drake is up for the most awards with 13 nominations, setting an AMAs record for most noms in a single year and surpassing Michael Jackson’s previous record of 11 noms in 1984. Rihanna is up for the second most awards this year with seven nominations.

Joe and Rachel announced several AMAs categories live on Good Morning America on ABC before taking over ‘theamas’ Snapchat with more category announcements! They finished announcing the categories in a special Facebook live stream on Good Morning America’s Facebook page.

Joe and Rachel were totally surprised when they found out they’re both nominated for AMAs this year! Joe’s band DNCE is up for New Artist of the Year Un-leashed by T-Mobile and Favorite Duo or Group – Pop Rock. Rachel is nominated  for Favorite Artist – Adult Contemporary.
