Disclosure will make their “Saturday Night Live” debut this Saturday, November 14, and will bring some friends: Lorde and Sam Smith will join them. The show will be hosted by Elizabeth Banks.
Caracal (Capitol Records), Disclosure’s sophomore album, debuted at No. 1 on the Official Albums chart in the U.K. and within the Top 10 of the Billboard 200. Available here, it is the follow-up to the duo’s 2013 debut, Settle, which also topped the U.K. Albums chart.
Disclosure recently completed a month-long North American headlining tour that featured a show at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena that was livestreamed as part of the American Express UNSTAGED series. Highlights can be seen here.
The tour was Disclosure’s biggest production to date, and hit major venues such as Navy Pier in Chicago and Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The Los Angeles Times noted, “The band has found its sweet spot of slower tempos and riled-up soul that lends their live sets such a distinct pace. Instead of club music’s typical straight 4/4 kick drum, their songs slink and writhe to more complex, human rhythms. But they still thump with the prerequisite sub-bass and echo-saturated vocal samples that good house music needs.”
The New York Times said, “There have been plenty of imitators since the British brother duo Disclosure began rebuilding 2-step garage a few years ago, but the brisk efficiency with which they render that slinky genre has yet to be matched. ‘Caracal’… includes collaborations with the sort of deeply resonant vocalists that have become a Disclosure staple.” Rolling Stone called Caracal “the crown jewel of a year in which they’ve moved steadily inward from pop’s cutting edge to its glittering center.”
