Details on Whitney Houston’s funeral were announced on various news sources today. It will take place at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark New Jersey this Saturday. This is the same place where Houston honed her craft as a singer as a child. The eulogy will be given by long time friend to the Houston family, Gospel singer and pastor Marvin L. Winans. Among the 1,500 expected to attend will include singers, Bebe and Cece Winans, Chaka Kahn, song writer Diane Warren, music executive Antonio “LA” Reid (who Co wrote Whitney’s song “Queen Of The Night” from 1992’s The Bodyguard Soundtrack), Ray J and Brandy Norwood, and Rev. Jesse Jackson.
It is an invitation only event to Houston’s closest friends and family. However, Whitney’s fans will not miss a thing inside the church! According to Houston’s rep Kristen Foster , the Associated Press will be allowed to bring a camera into the private ceremony and will stream the event on their AP Live site. Therefore The AP’s feed will then be broadcast on various television outlets as well. CNN also reports that the funeral will be broadcast on New York radio station, WRKS, 98.7 Kiss FM. After the funeral Houston will be buried in Fair View Cemetery in Westfield, NJ, according to her death certificate.
