2008 American Idol winner, David Cook is getting ready to release his second major label album. (third over all) Cook began to focus on ideas for the album after finishing his first major tour in December 2009. (The tour was originally put on hold after his brother passed away from his fight with cancer for many years) The album will be called The Loud Morning and is set for release on June 28th, 2011 via 19/RCA Records/RMG.
The project will be executive produced by Matt Serletic. Matt is a record producer who became known for his work producing Pop/Rock acts with Atlantic Records. Some of his resume include names like Edwin McCain, Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, Blessed Union Of Souls, Collective Soul and many others.
Cook wanted the album to have a loose theme within the record that is open to interpretation by the listener. He described the opening song “Circadian” as being about “falling asleep and escaping the day, and using sleep as a reprieve”, the middle of the album being “the gestation cycle of a relationship from start to finish”, and the ending track “Rapid Eye Movement” being about waking up from a dream and having to face actual reality.
The Loud Morning features new music written by David, or co-written by David with a few of the best in the business. Those co writers include the likes of David Hodges, Ryan Tedder, Kevin Griffin and Marti Frederiksen.
American Idol fans know that David recently performed the album’s first single, “The Las Goodbye.” on season 10 of the show recently.
