Danity Kane have announced that they will be hitting the road for the first time in in six years for their “No Filter” Tour. The group is best known for starring in MTV’s Making The Band season 3 and 4, produced Hip Hop mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs. Aubrey O’Day, Aundrea Fimbres, D. Woods, Shannon Bex and Dawn Richard were signed to Combs’ Bad Boy Records while participating in the show, and became Danity Kane for the first time in november of 2005.
While under Diddy’s Bad Boy, DK became the first girl group in history to have their first two albums, Danity Kane and Welcome to the Dollhouse, debut at the top of the U.S. charts. Unfortunately that positivity didn’t last, and the group had a very public falling out with Diddy at the end of Making The Band 4′s. final season. Dawn also talked with Clizbeats about her life after Danity Kane when promoting Diddy’s Last Train To Paris album.
Now in 2014, DK appears to be soldiering on without Bad Boy reuniting on their own. However, the reunion, which was announced last year at MTV’s Video Music Awards will not include estranged 5th member D. Woods.
While there are a number of reports stating that the exclusion from the reunion was not by her own choosing, there are also conflicting ones stating that she Woods chose to focus on her solo career instead. From what we’ve put together the majority of the reports related to Woods’ leaving Danity Kane came directly from her. Beyond those reports, because of her twitter fight with Aubrey O’Day one minute, and wishing the girls the best of luck the other, it’s hard to know why she chose to not reunite with the group. Some reports have said that she simply wasn’t included, but we admit, we don’t know specifics.
The confusion doesn’t end there. Rumors have run ramped that the remaining foursome were signed by LA Reid to Epic Records. However, despite a new song called “Bye Baby” surfacing online, and a tweet from Dawn Richard taking a about meetings with Epic, we’ve yet to find an official statement from the group or Epic Records that confirms it all. Label confusion aside, the girls have made it abundantly clear that Danity Kane is back.
