D.A. Of Chester French Checks In From London! Jun 8, 2009

D.A. Wallach of Star Trak/Interscope Records band , Chester French emailed us from London  to update all the viewers on all things Chester French!

I’m writing from my hotel room in London, where we’ve just arrived after playing Germany’s two biggest music festivals this weekend. I’m totally jet-lagged beyond belief but can’t sleep because today is major for us in Europe as we’re finally releasing our album “Love the Future” here. Wherever you are in the World, I urge you to pick up the record TODAY directly from us at It’s been getting some exciting reviews and I’ve included a few press clippings below!

Blink 182 Tour
More than any press, however, we’ve been honored by the support of some of our favorite artists, including ?uestlove of The Roots, Lady Gaga, Common, and Blink 182. Which brings me to our most exciting news in a long time: we’ve been invited to tour with Blink 182 on their reunion tour this Summer! Max and I can barely believe that we’ll be sharing the stage with legends like Blink 182 and Weezer (who are also on the tour), much less with audiences of 15,000-25,000 people each night. The show is going to be amazing, and we’re already planning backstage events for you and our other VIP Concierge Service members (we recently released a video of a VIP event in New York, which you can seehere!) so get your tickets right away.

Video Blog
We’ll be in Europe for another few weeks touring in the UK, Belgium, Holland, and France. But the kids singing along at the German shows already showed me that our movement is spreading, and that thanks to your promotional work, cities like Nuremberg, Germany are already getting familiar with Chester French! To thank you for your tireless support, I want to do a better job of taking you along on our journey. I bought an awesome new video camera before we left for Germany last week, and I’m now going to be video blogging every couple days so that you can join us on our adventures. I posted the first videos from Germany already, and you can find them at our blog every day:

“Office Hours”
Finally, once we return from Europe we’re going to be doing something no artist has ever done before: weekly “office hours!” For an hour every week, I’ll open up my cell phone so that you can call me directly and we can talk. I’ll announce office hours on Twitter ( and then you can dial 617-830-2532 to reach me. You can call that number at all other times to leave messages that we’ll be checking every day. I’ll send out a video from the first office hours next week so you can see what it’s all about!

It’s now 3am here in London so I’m gonna call it a night. As always, I can’t thank you enough for supporting us. Please keep spreading the word, burning copies of the free mixtape (download it here for free), and telling your friends about the album.

With love from London,

Critical Praise for “Love the Future”

People Magazine: “A delightfully whimsical pop pastiche that evokes everyone from the Beach Boys and the Beatles to Prince (on the synth-infused standout ‘Not Over You’). They even get away with tossing in a tap-dance break out of nowhere!”

Boston Globe: “Could this really be Chester French’s first album? ‘Love the Future’ sounds too wise – and too catchy – to possibly be the debut from recent Harvard grads D.A. Wallach and Max Drummey.”

Rolling Stone“Love the Future is tricked out with snazzy synth and string orchestrations — and singer D.A. Wallach’s high, elastic croon […] the Beach Boys-like brightness of ‘Time to Unwind’ or the pretty, Fleetwood Mac-ian seduction of ‘Sleep’ make it hard to deny their melodic gifts.”

SPIN: “UNDENIABLE!” “Too intelligent and well-crafted to dismiss,” “Clever, concise songs,” “Ridiculously ingratiating hooks.”

The Harvard Crimson: “A tour de force scarcely seen in contemporary pop music.” “Leaves little to be desired”
