Only hours ago today, the day of the release of his album, F.A.M.E., R&B singer Chris Brown lost his temper in his dressing room after his interview on ABC’s, Good Morning America. TMZ.com reported this morning that Brown flipped out, smashing the window in his dressing room in the Time Square studio. Brown then ripped his shirt off and stormed out. This occured after an obviously uncomfortable interview he gave with GMA’s Robin Roberts, where brown was asked repeatedly about the status of his relationship with Rihanna after his 2009 assault.
Like most of us who did not see the interview live, we wanted to see what all the fuss was about. So if you have not seen it, take a look at the interview that started it all.
Chris Brown’s Good Morning America
Some may say that it is Roberts’ right to ask Chris anything she sees fit, he is a guest on her show after all. It is important to note however, that not only ABC , but Robin Roberts herself had the opportunity to speak to Chris herself about this sensitive topic.
Chris Brown’s 2009 Interview With Robin Roberts
In Robin Roberts’ defense it could be argued that she was trying to set up the questions for the album with a certain context that is traced back to their 2009 conversation, This could then show how he has grown and redemed himself as a person when he would go on to talk about the meaning behind the album, “F.A.M.E.” (Forgive All My Enemies/Fans Are My Everything)
But with that said, live tv may not have been the proper format for such a set up. If Brown was informed of the context of the questions and where she intended to go with the conversation ahead of time he probably would have not only done what he did in the dressing room, but also not have felt the need to be defensive in the conversation. This does not at all give him a pass for what he did to Rihanna or for his behavior in the GMA dressing room. But keeping all this in mind, it probably was not right for Robin Roberts to start off the conversation the way she did.
