The Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta has teamed up with the Unbreakable Music Foundation to host “Mind for Music” on May 29, 2009 at The Velvet Underground. Unbreakable Music Foundation was established by Writer/Producer Simon Illa. The foundation’s focus, although broad in scope, is primarily based on assistance and raising awareness of needs related to creation of music and music education. UMF will accomplish this through various music-related events, campaigns, and promotions. Simon was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, an inherited disorder characterized by extreme fragility of the bones, leaving him confined to a wheel chair. This has not stopped Simon from pursuing his dreams however.
“Sometimes I wonder where I would be in my career if I could have had the tools to explore my interest in music earlier in life. Now that I have made my way within the mainstream music industry, I feel it is time to think about the next generation, the next child or children that should have access to the equipment that will provide the opportunities to explore and learn music ‘hands on’ despite physical disability.”
