Adele’s “21″ Out Sells “Thriller” In England

The UK’s Official Chart Company proudly announced today May 3rd, that the mega successful album 21 by Adele has surpassed Michael Jackson’s Thriller in total British record sales.  As of now 21’s up to date British record sales total out to be 4,274,300 copies.  After the math was done, that means that 21 has sold a decisive 500 copies more than Jackson’s Thriller in the UK.  This Makes Adele’s 21 the 5th best selling album of all time in English history.  To see who else is in her company, check out the list of the top 10 below.

21 has sold 8.9 million in the US according to  Nielsen SoundScan.  Therefore, 21 is also the  30th best-selling album since Sound Scan began tracking sales in 1991. Cheers to you Adele!

Latin hip shaking international Pop sensation Shakira is turning many heads across the Blogisphere with the release of her  latest music video.  The super hot clip that all of us are addicted to is for the fifth single from her seventh studio album, Sale El Sol.  The song was officially released as a single via the singer’s website back in March.  Naturally thanks to her compelling visual attributes, a truly inspired music video wasn’t far behind.

Well, after much anticipation, The Anthony Mandler directed video finally made its official premiere yesterday.  We took a look at it, and we couldn’t be happier with what we saw.  We have a feeling there is going to be a large population of men out there that will agree with us.  Take a look at it below and see what you think. New Brandy Duet With Chris Brown “Put It Down”

R&B superstar and actress, Brandy is getting ready to release her next single from her forthcoming sixth studio album, Two Eleven. The track is a Hip Hop inspired duet with her RCA label mate, Chris Brown called “Put It Down.”. The song was produced by Bangladesh, best known for his work on Lil Wayne’s “Amili.” Along with Bangladesh, the song was co-written by Brandy, Chris, and one of his early collaborators, Sean Garrett. Garrett can arguably be credited with helping launch Brown’s career when he worked on Brown’s debut single, “Run It” with Scott Storch.

“Put It Down” is scheduled for a May 8^th release from Chameleon/RCA Records. The track comes on the heels of the album’s first single, “It All Belongs To Me”, her second duet with R&B singer, Monica. Brandy and Monica first found success together with their 1999 duet, “The Boy Is Mine”. It seems like duets serve Brandy’s caree well since “The Boy Is Mine” became one of the most successful songs in Atlantic Records’ history. Only time will tell if this duet with Chris will spark the same kind of heat that Brandy has found with Monica, but its worth a try.   Brandy’s Two Eleven album is due this June.

With today’s arrival of the official single “No Lie” feat. Drake, 2 Chainz’s T.R.U. (The Real University) and Def Jam Recordings announce the August 14^th release date of the debut album BASED ON A T.R.U. STORY. “No Lie” feat. Drake will be available for sale through all digital carriers and services on May 8^th.

One of the most anticipated debut albums in years, BASED ON A T.R.U. STORY is set to arrive as the crest of the 2 Chainz wave crashes into shore. After a series of explosive mixtapes made 2 Chainz the most sought-after MC in the game – an onslaught of media attention ensued, including the cover of The Source and a glowing piece in The New York Times – he has recently linked up with the likes of heavies Kanye West and Drake for collaborations of the next order.

In March Kanye West flew into Austin, TX to join Chainz in a surprise performance at one of his triumphant SXSW gigs. Just weeks ago, Chainz debuted his “Riot” video on BET’s 106 & Park with a silently supportive Kanye. The two also promoted the G.O.O.D. In “tru” 2 Chainz fashion, the Atlanta-native has gone from a sold-out NYC debut concert in February to a major national tour in just months. “2Chainz is a veteran who chooses being catchy over being cool,” raved the New York Times the morning after his now-legendary SOB’s debut.  “He’s an inadvertent humorist, and awe and wonderment often sneak into his verses, as if he’s still surprised by every blessing his new success affords him.”

Having mined digital downloads in the millions for T.R.U. REALigion, his latest indie mixtape sensation (released November 2011), 2Chainz is still winning new fans every hour.  His hit tracks – signatures that include “Riot” and the Drumma Boy-produced smash single “Spend It,” have helped establish a new sphere of influence for the lanky, outspoken rapper.

Last night VH1 aired an updated version of their episode of Behind The Music featuring late Bad Boy Records rapper, The Notorious B.I.G. . The new version of the production contains an interview with a retired detective from the LAPD by the name of Greg Kading. Kading was assigned to the case in 2006 after B.I.G.’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the LAPD. After investigating the case for years Kading claims to have evidence that revealed that Death Row Records’ founder, Marion “Suge” Knight was responsible for the murder, That evidence came in the form of an official confession from one of the mothers of one of Knight’s children. Despite the overwhelming amount of evidence that pointed to Suge, Detective  Greg Kading retire in disgust  after his efforts were met with indifference and possible police corruption. New Music Video: Pitbull “Back In Time” From Men In Black 3!

As we first reported to you last month, the theme song to the highly anticipated action adventure comedy Men in Black  3, “Back In Time,”  is by RCA Records/Polo Grounds Music/Mr. 305 Records recording artist Pitbull, it was first announced ton March 22nd  by Lia Vollack, President of Worldwide Music for Sony Pictures.  T

“Back In Time” was written for the film by Armando C. Perez (Pitbull), Marc Kinchen, Adrian Trejo and Urales Vargas and features a sample of the 1950s hit “Love is Strange,” written by Sylvia Robinson, Ellas McDaniel and Mickey Baker, which went to #1 for the R&B duo Mickey & Sylvia.

“It’s an incredible honor to be a part of such an amazing franchise as Men in Black and I have so much respect for Will Smith, especially with our similar musical backgrounds,” says Pitbull. “Wanting to keep the music fun yet modern, we used the slogan of the movie and flipped it back into the song that ‘in order to understand the future, you have to go back in time.’”

A music video to accompany the release of “Back in Time” was first released onto Pitbull’s official Vevochannel  on April 21, 2012. The video shows Pitbull and a video model edited in key scenes of the film along with a stand alone performance sequence.  Just like Will Smith had done in the music video for the first film’s theme, the video ends with Pitbull looking into the camera holding aNeuralyzer.

Barry Sonnenfeld, the director of the film, added, “My 19-year-old daughter turned me on to Pitbull. I’m thrilled that he wrote such a great song for our movie that totally gets it.”

In Men in Black 3, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind. Barry Sonnenfeld directs the film. The film’s screenplay is written by Etan Cohen, based on the Malibu Comic by Lowell Cunningham.  Walter F. A First Look At ABC’s Music Competition “Duets”

It has been reported that Lionel Richie was very recently replaced by “Ordinary People” singer, John Legend.  Legend discussed joining the show in the following statement.

“I’m thrilled to be part of ‘Duets’ and I’m looking forward to finding an undiscovered gem out there,” “Get Lifted” singer Legend said. “This is going be a lot of fun.”

It has been said by many that one is the loneliest number. This is why when it came time for ABC to finally throw its hat in the music completion ring, they were determined to prove that “two voices are better than one.” That’s right instead of the celebrities on the show being judges like on American Idol and X Factor, or coaches like on The Voice, the celebrities who are participating are now actual singing partners. This is all happening on this new major music series, appropriately called, Duets. The show premieres on ABC on Thursday May 24^th, and features mentoring and duets from chart topping singers Lionel Richie, Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, Robin Thicke and the first American Idol winner, Kelly Clarkson! As these platinum acts in the industry become each other’s competition, they will also be mentoring their team members with hopes of helping them win a record contract with Disney Music Group’s Hollywood Records. Like NBC has done with Carson Daly, ABC is also drawing from the old MTV, TRL talent pool. Duets is going to be hosted by one of Carson’s old co-workers, Quddus. Universal City, CA – Universal CityWalk’s® “5 Towers” state-of-the art concert venue welcomes the Final Four of NBC’s blockbuster vocal competition show, “The Voice,” for a live performance at 10:30am on Thursday, May 3, 2012.  The special one-time concert in Los Angeles invites fans to Universal CityWalk to cheer on their favorite performer. “The Voice” winner will be announced next Tuesday, May 8.

CityWalk’s new interactive outdoor concert venue will serve as the energetic backdrop to showcase the leading vocal artists from celebrity musician coaches Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. The artist lineup set to command the stage at “5 Towers” include Kansas native Chris Mann for Team Christina, Florida native Juliet Simms for Team CeeLo, Connecticut native Tony Lucca for Team Adam, and New York native Jermaine Paul for Team Blake.  Competing to be named “The Voice” in Season 2 of the hit show, each of the final four artists will perform one song on the “5 Towers” stage and the performances will be streamed live to Facebook, NBC.com and at the NBC Experience Store in New York.

First to christen the “5 Towers” stage in July 2011 was none other than CeeLo himself paving the way for the first-of-its kind outdoor concert venue with fan immersive features and next-generation technology.  The Music Spotlight Series held this spring at “5  Towers” featured Billboard chart-topping talent Carly Rae Jepsen, as well as an eclectic and impressive lineup of local homegrown favorites including The Thomas Nicholas Band, Midnight Red, and Cherri Bomb, to name a few.

“We are so excited to have the finalists from ‘The Voice’ here at the 5 Towers on CityWalk,” said Pat Donahue, Director of CityWalk Entertainment.  “While we’ve hosted established recording artists like Flo Rida, Good Charlotte and Justin Bieber, we also have a strong commitment to supporting emerging artists.  It’s a great privilege to provide up-and-coming talent with an outstanding, state of the art venue to do what they love to do – which is to play great music and entertain the masses!”

Before the final four contestants were announced, the eight semi-finalists recently were treated to a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of Universal Studios Hollywood’s epic, new thrill ride, Transformers™:  The Ride-3D, set to open officially on May 25, 2012.
