USHER TO RELEASE 8 NEW SONGS ON “VERSUS”

“Versus” Is The Final Chapter Of “Raymond V. Raymond”

Raymond as well as Versus.  The  new set will include his current R&B hit “There Goes My Baby” and collaborations with Bun B,  producer Polow Da Don and others.

Versus is a conceptual sequel and final chapter of Raymond V. Raymond- an album in which Usher uses music to explore the dichotomies of his life as a newly single man/father.

The lead single from the new set is “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” featuring Pitbull and is produced by the inimitable Max Martin- who has worked with some of the top pop artists in the world including P!nk, Katy Perry and Britney Spears.  “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” will be serviced to radio mid-July. “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love” will be delivered to radio stations world-wide this coming Monday morning.  Shortly after, “Hot Tottie” produced by the hitmaker Polow, will be delivered to radio on August 9th.

Released late spring of 2010, Raymond V. Additionally, Raymond V. Raymond held the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s R&B Album chart for seven weeks and since has sold over six million tracks and ringtones combined.

Usher’s ninth No.1 single, OMG,” has had over 3 million tracks and ringtones to date and held the No.1 spot on the Hot 100 Singles chart for four weeks in a row.  The song hit No.1 on the Neilsen RingScan chart and continues to chart in the Top 10 for its tenth consecutive week. “OMG” enjoyed international success as well, reaching No. 1 on the iTunes chart in both the UK and Australia. Usher’s world domination extended through Canada (No. 1 airplay & Gold album), Ireland (No. 1), New Zealand (No. 1 airplay) and Sweden (Top 10 CHR).

Pharrell & Robin Thicke Star On Soundtrack for “Despicable Me”

July 9, 2010
Despicable Me Soundtrack Star Trak/Interscope Records

Despicable Me Soundtrack Star Trak/Interscope Records

Movie goers know that this weekend marks the release of the first film from Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures, Despicable Me. While the film has an all star cast of Steve Carrell , Jason Segel, Julie Andrews and Miranda Cosgrove, in some ways the soundtrack and music to the film is just as much of an interesting story. The music to the film was composed by Heitor Pereira and Pharrell Williams of The Neptunes and N.E.R.D.. Heitor Pereira is known for his work playing with various famous musicians like Simply Red, Elton John, K.D. Lang, Rod Stewart, and Jack Johnson. Pharrell Williams is best known for his work co-writing and producing hit records as a member of The Neptunes with his production partner, Chad Hugo. The Neptunes are known for being the master minds behind songs like “Hot In Herre” by Nelly, “I’m A Slave 4 U” By Britney Spears and countless hits by the likes of Jay-Z, Ludacris and Mystikal in the early 2000s. The Neptunes are also credited in helping reshape Justin Timberlake’s sound and image as an R&B artist, as well as relaunching the career of Robin Thicke when he signed to their label Star Trak Entertainment.

This marks the second motion picture sound track t0 be released by Star Trak/Interscope Records following 2009’s Fast and Furious soundtrack, that was also distributed by Universal Pictures, part of Star Trak’s parent company,  NBC Universal.  Pharrell has stated in interviews, that his unique level of participation with Despicable me was inspired from watching the 2006 animated feature Curious George.  Thanks to music loving movie execs like Kathy Nelson then of Universal Pictures, the Classic children’s character was backed musically by the distinct laid back and playful stylings of singer songwritter, Jack Johnson when brought to the big screen. Watching the film, Pharrell relished at the creative freedom that Jack had and reached out eagerly to do something similar with what tunred out to be Despicable me.  ”I was so envious of Jack Johnson for getting that project.” Pharrell told  blacktree.com.

“I thought it was so cool.  I was like, man, he did such an amazing Job.  I was like man, if I were to be given the opportunity man, I would really, you know, I would really, bust my butt to just make the best stuff.”

That enthusiasm earned him a meeting with Illumination studios, where he was granted the executive rights on the film’s soundtrack, and from that point on, “bust his butt,” is exactly what he did.  Excluding already established hits featured in the film, “Boogie Fever” by The Sylvers, and “You Should be Dancing” by the Bee Gees that consequently made the track list, Pharrell had a hand in writing and producing every single original song. He teamed up with the likes of Hans Zimer of famous movie scores like The Lion King, and nail the Curious George finger print from partner Heitor Pereira, who was one of its principle producers.

Bringing something uniquely his own, Pharell appeared a performer on 5 of the album’s 11 total tracks.  He also consciously spotlighted Star Trak Entertainment recording star and Clizbeats Featured Artist, Robin Thicke, who is featured in the film with his song “My Life”, an upbeat R&B tune written by Thicke and Williams. Check out some soundtrack samples, as well as Pharrell and Robin at work in the Studio creating “My Life.” in the viral video below.

Jessie James “Boys In The Summer”

JESSIE JAMES GREETS THE SEASON WITH “BOYS IN THE SUMMER,” NEW SINGLE ON MERCURY RECORDS, AVAILABLE AT ITUNES, AMAZON AND OTHER DIGITAL RETAILERS –VIDEO ON CMT

Jessie James

Jessie James

FIRST TRACK FROM UPCOMING SECOND ALBUM, OUT THIS SUMMER!

Follow-up to self-titled Jessie James debut album of 2009 – #1 iTunes and #1 Amazon – with “Wanted,” “I Look So Good (Without You),” “My Cowboy,” And “Bullet”

(June 30, 2010 – New York, NY) Jessie James steals her way into everyone’s heart this season with “Boys In the Summer,” her brand new Mercury Records single – impacting at Top 40 radio on July 12th; at pop and country radio on July 13th; and at Hot AC on July 19th.  CMT is now airing the “Boys In the Summer” video following its premiere on June 18th.

“Boys In the Summer” is the first new single pick from Jessie’s second album, due this summer on Mercury.  The song is already gaining traction at radio with airplay on nearly 20 pop stations.  “Boys In the Summer” is also the MySpace New Music Playlist feature for this week, as seen and heard by an average of more than 1 million visitors per day.

The new album follows-up her self-titled debut JESSIE JAMES (August 2009), which made headlines when it rose to #1 on the iTunes Pop Album Chart and #1 on Amazon’s MP3 chart.  It was fueled by the Top 20 Pop Song chart success of its first single “Wanted,” the full-throttle dance-rock scorcher that Jessie co-wrote with American Idol judge and hit songwriter Kara DioGuardi (along with Mitch Allen and David Hodges).  The album made a solid Soundscan debut at #24, and was also the #7 Digital Album.

With “Wanted” and her second single “I Look So Good (Without You)” at radio, Jessie premiered “My Cowboy” in November 2009, at the nationally televised 43rd Annual CMA Awards.  The song was featured in tv promos on ABC and CMT for CMA’s annual Country Music Festival (formerly known as Fanfare) as CMT aired the “My Cowboy” video.  (The song was also heard in Sorority Wars, a Lifetime cable tv-movie shown October 2009.)

Later in November-December, Jessie joined Kid Rock on “Tour For the Troops,” entertaining American troops in Southwest Asia, and families in Europe.  The daughter of an Air Force fighter pilot and a self-described military brat (born on a U.S. base in Italy), Jessie was a welcome addition to the two-week schedule (formerly known as Operation Season’s Greetings), which made stops at Ramstein Air Base, Germany; Incirlik AB, Turkey; RAF Lakenheath, England; and a number of deployed locations in Southwest Asia.

In the final month of 2009, Jessie teamed with FOX-TV’s cable network SPEED™ as the face of their “SPEED™ Dream Ride” programming and promotion event.  She re-grooved her catchy rock gem “Bullet” (co-written with pal Katy Perry) – Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?” – with a customized theme for the “Dream Ride” campaign, which featured multiple marathons of SPEED™’s most popular weekly programming, and the premiere of new prime time series, Dangerous Drives.

Jessie has logged an astounding 16 million-plus total plays on her MySpace website, www.myspace.com/jessiejamesmusic.  In addition to “Wanted,” “I Look So Good (Without You),” “My Cowboy,” and “Bullet,” the site also features full-length versions of every song on her debut album – including “Blue Jeans” (first heard in the hit Touchstone film and Hollywood Records soundtrack album of Confessions of A Shopaholic, and featured in the premiere episode of Lifetime’s Drop Dead Diva), “Guilty,” “Burn It Up,” “Inevitable,” “Big Mouth,” “Burnin’ Bridges,” “Girl Next Door,” and “Psycho Girlfriend.”

Christina Aguilera strips everything down for the third single from her latest album, Bionic . As we have mentioned before much of the sound of the Bionic album came from collaborating with producer and writers like Polow Da Don and Ester Dean, who had much to do with Christina’s first two singles from the album. But we neglected to tell you that Monkey Puzzle/Jive Records singer/song writer, Sia Fuller alos collaborated on four songs with Christinia. The four songs is what Christina has described on her VH1 Storytellers performances as the “heart of the record” From that “heart” is the album’s third single, a very powerful ballad called “You Lost Me” written by Sia Fuller/Samuel Dixon/Christina Aguilera. Spin called Flesh Tone one of the “25 Summer Albums That Matter Most,” and gave it an eight out of ten rating in an album review, noting: “Kelis’ fifth album is part reinvention, part creative vengeance…the R&B maverick goes full tilt house diva.” “It’s the classic throb of disco liberation,” observed Rolling Stone while Vibe said it “gives drag queens and house lovers a new aural fixation.” “Flesh Tone…is built to detonate like a bomb on the dance floor,” said Elle. Pop/Rock band Maroon 5 has returned to the music scene after a taking a break through much of 2008 and some of 2009. Now the guys are finally ready to release their highly anticipated third studio album, Hands All Over. The album was recorded through most of last year when the band relocated to Switzerland to record with legendary Rock producer, Robert “Mutt” Lange.
