Beyonce As Queen Tara In "Epic"

Beyonce is making headlines for having to cancel her concert in Belgium tonight.  According to a statement provided by her publicist, the 31-year-old singer has been advised by doctors to get some rest.  The rest is apparently needed because of “Dehydration and exhaustion.”  She is currently on her Mrs. Carter World tour. Her next show is tomorrow at the same arena. The statement says “she is awaiting word from her doctors before making a decision.”

This news comes on the heals of rumors reported by The New York Post that she’s pregnant with her second child.  Click here to read all about it.

Pregnant or not, it’s no wonder why Beyonce is so tired. She and her husband Jay-Z have been so busy that there has literally been something completely new to report on every week for months now.  The latest of these stories is about her involvement in the Blue Sky Studios’ animated feature, Epic. Beyonce plays Queen Tara, a mother nature-like character that is queen of the forest.  She is joined in the film by fellow music celebs, Pitbull and Steven Tyler. Pit plays a toad, and Tyler plays a caterpillar.

Beyonce has provided the film’s theme song as well. The tune called “Rise Up” was written with Australian alternative/Pop performer Sia.  An original score composed by Danny Elfman will accompany it.  “Rise Up” will be released through Columbia Records. The film’s complete soundtrack is said to be released by the Sony Classics, division of Sony Pictures.

Epic is set to hit theaters on May 24th.  We’ve collected a bunch of media related to it for you to enjoy below. Take notice that during her Epic interview with Good Morning America, Beyonce says, “I would like more children.”  Could it be that she’s hinting at the pregnancy in her own way?  Only time will tell. Check out the interview below and see what you think.

Teen R&B/Pop sensation, Mindless Behavior (Streamline/Conjunction/Interscope), will treat their fans to a 26 city tour—just in time for summer. Their much anticipated All Around The World tour will kick off on July 3rd in Stockton, CA. The announcement follows the March release of their docu-movie and duly-titled sophomore album.

All Around The World serves as the second headlining tour for the ever-busy quartet—comprised of members Prodigy, Ray Ray, Roc Royal, and Princeton. No strangers to the stage, Mindless’ tour resume ranges from opening for superstars Janet Jackson and Justin Bieber, to top billing on 2011’s Scream Tour. In 2012 they headlined the #1 Girl Tour in promotion of their debut album.

This summer’s tour will feature a longer set, incorporating some of the group’s latest hits, including lead single “Keep Her on the Low” and fan favorite “All Around The World.” Opening acts include fellow teen stars The OMG Girlz (“Gucci This (Gucci That?)”) and Coco Jones (“Holla At the DJ”).

Aside from their pair of releases, Mindless Behavior have had an extremely active 2013. They recently lent their dance skills to WAT-AAH!’s Move Your Body 2013 campaign and PSA—a youth focused initiative which aims to improve kids’ health through physical activity. Just prior, the group joined Katy Perry and Usher in Washington D.C. to perform at the Kids Inaugural concert for children and military families on January 19, 2013.

Grab your Mindless Behavior Glo In The Dark Bracelet at MindlessFlashMob.com and be a part of The Mindless in-venue flash mob experience. Tickets for the All Around The World tour are on sale now.

Cee Lo Green & Adam Levine Hard At Work on their “Must See TV”

Adam Levine With Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green may be taking a break from his coaching duties on The Voice, but not from TV.  The “Forget You” singer has just announced that TBS has ordered 6 episodes of what is tentatively being called The Cee Lo Life. It is an Unscripted show that will follow Green as he juggles the schedule of his growing career.  Part of that schedule is said to include his work related to the Goodie Mob reunion. It is expected to hit the air in 2014.

“With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, Cee Lo Green has risen to the top of the music industry,” reads a statement from Michael Wright, President, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies. “This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know Cee Lo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest-working men in show business. The Cee Lo Life is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”

Green, and fellow Voice coach/Maroon 5 front man, Adam Levine have already announced that they are working on separate program development deals with NBC.   Adam and his creative partner Jordan Feldstein have been given the go ahead by Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late night programming, to develop scripted programming, and other forms of programming.  According The Hollywood Reporter, Cee Lo has been at work with the team from Happy Madison Productions on his own NBC sitcom.  For more specifics on that coverage and what to expect, click here.

While we all wait on this “must see TV,” check out Maroon 5’s new single called “Love Somebody.”  Adam Levine and Nathaniel Motte wrote the track.  Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, and Noel Zancanella produced it.  We really do dig it, and we’re betting you will too. Check it out below.

Perhaps you’ll want to use it to set a high-energy mood when watching The Voice this tomorrow.  NBC is really bringing there A game.  In addition to their competition recently becoming the genre’s leading show, the network is pulling out all the stops by inviting our buddy Robin Thicke to perform his latest hit “Blurred Lines” with Pharrell Williams and T.I.  If they invite the girls from the now infamous music video that truly will be “must see TV.” Cheers.

Mark Ballas Releases Video Announcing New Music Leading To The Debut of His First Studio Album

Mark Ballas

Mark Ballas

Mark Ballas, the popular, Emmy-nominated dancer and choreographer known for his role on 12 seasons of ABC’s Hit Series “Dancing with the Stars,” highlights his singing, songwriting and guitar playing in a new video released recently announcing new music that he is working on as he plans for a debut full solo production album. The tease of this new music from the yet-untitled album from this multi-faceted performer falls on the heels of his recent major deal signing with publishing powerhouse BMG. Ballas has been packing shows, entertaining industry VIPs and fans alike with his new music at Los Angeles’ popular The Sayers Club every Monday following his performances on “Dancing with the Stars,” and will continue to do so into the summer.

“The video is a trailer for what you can be expecting at a live show or when the album is finally complete,” says Ballas. “I think it gives you a really clear taste of what’s to come. All of this work will lead to my first full studio production album where I get to show my true style and musical direction.”

In the video, Ballas explains his passion for writing and performing music: “I had a very musical family growing up and they’re just really supportive. It’s something that as soon as I started applying myself and becoming dedicated to, I never wanted to stop.”

Mark Ballas Music Trailer

Working with such producing heavyweights as producers from Timbaland’s camp including Wizz Dumb and Jim Beanz, as well as the Stereotypes and doing co-writes with the likes of Jozzy, BC Jean and Clarence Coffee, Jr., Ballas demonstrates the breadth of his musical passion and abilities with sounds that fuse funk with flamenco and international pop, highlighted by big rhythmic beats.

“As a guitar player, a lot of my stuff has that percussive, rhythmic type of feel that flamenco has,” says Ballas in the video.

Classically trained on the flamenco guitar, and playing music since the age of nine, Ballas has been focused on preparing for this full production studio album for several years. In his more than 15 years as a musician and dancer, Ballas has developed a powerful stage presence and impeccable showmanship comparable to that of a veteran musician. Ballas has recently been praised for these talents, having earned the recognition of “Artist to Watch,” by Clear Channel in 2011 and more recently opening for Robin Thicke for two shows, earning standing ovations at these appearances. This year, Ballas sold out Los Angeles’ famed The Troubadour and later shared the stage with The Black Eyed Peas Band at will.i.am’s “TRANS4RM” Pre-GRAMMY Party, alongside Estelle, Ludacris, Bobby Brown, Alicia Keys and will.i.am, who also performed that night. Most recently, Ballas performed a high-energy acoustic set at the Chevy Tweet House at the popular SXSW music festival.

Clearly influenced by the likes of such eclectic artists as Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Prince, Gypsy Kings and Paco De Lucia, Ballas provides high-energy live performances – his movement on stage a reflection of his acclaimed dance background. Backed by a 7-piece band made up of a 3-piece horn section, a keyboardist, bassist, guitarist and drummer with Ballas on guitar and lead vocals, he has put together a band with some of the most talented, respected and highly regarded musicians in the industry.  These tremendous talents have some incomparable credits that include having performed for or shared stages with the likes of legendary acts that include Prince, Stevie Wonder, Sting, James Brown, Robin Thicke, Jennifer Hudson, Jennifer Lopez, John Mayer, Michael Buble, Usher, CeeLo, Josh Groban, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews Band, Christina Aguilera, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin and many more.

Born in Houston to a family of international dance stars and musicians, Ballas moved to London as a child, where he attended the world-renowned Italia Conti Performing Arts School and graduated with honors. Here, he was required to not only dance, but to also sing, act and play an instrument. He began playing the guitar at the age of nine, training in classic flamenco, and by the age of 12 he was writing and performing his own music, playing guitar, drums and bass. His years of training paid off, as he’s currently a Martin Guitars ambassador and an official Kremona Guitars artist.

“Mark Ballas is a true showman – he owns the stage,” said Manager Rebecca Lambrecht, Chicane Group. “I can’t wait for the masses to see what he’s all about.”

SKYLAR GREY’S MUSIC VIDEO FOR SINGLE “FINAL WARNING” AVAILABLE TODAY – DEBUT ALBUM “DON’T LOOK DOWN” DUE JULY 9

SANTA MONICA, CA (May 13, 2013) – Skylar Grey – whose hotly anticipated debut album Don’t Look Down, executive produced by Eminem and Alex Da Kid, is set to release on July 9 – has released the music video for her latest single, “Final Warning,” today. Furthermore, as announced by RapGenius, Grey has partnered with Gigg to put the spotlight on the fans with a special contest allowing aspiring rappers a chance to be heard by submitting live videos of themselves spitting their own verses over the “Final Warning” track. Gigg users and Grey will choose their favorite entrant to award a trip to Los Angeles to spend time with Skylar in a professional recording studio to lay down their verses.

Grey performed this past weekend at Yahoo! On the Road Performance at Turner Ballroom in Milwaukee with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, and has another upcoming appearance May 31 at the Electric Soul Circus with CeeLo Green and Busta Rhymes at the Barclays Center in New York City. Don’t Look Down will be an 11-track album featuring various songs and visuals that take the listener on a sonic exploration spanning darkly brooding yet beautiful vocals, innovative beats, biting lyrics and vast cinematic imagery. “Final Warning” and its accompanying music video, directed by Brewer and starring actors Noah Segan and Alona Tal, exemplify the sharp contrast between the song’s droll tone and the violent remorseless lyrics – in Stanley Kubrick style – restrained yet with horrific details that people won’t soon forget.

“’Final Warning’ is my favorite song on this album. I’m anxious to see if people figure out what’s happening in this video. We put a real twist on the song with the visual,” said Grey.

Lyrically, the album’s songs trace Grey’s life from rebellious childhood years to more recently as she struggled to find her place in the world, and they showcase Grey’s dusky, ethereal voice and gift for haunting melodies, set to inventive, percussive beats. Skylar’s fun and sarcastic first single, “C’mon Let Me Ride,” amassed more than 4 million views in less than three days and has garnered more than 14 million views in total. Since the release, Grey has been named one of Forbes magazine’s ‘30 under 30’ musicians in their 2012 special issue alongside Adele, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Drake and Bruno Mars. She also wrote CeeLo Green’s latest single “Only You,” and is a featured vocalist on the track “Love Bullets” on will.i.am’s recent solo album #willpower from Interscope Records.

Grey is a five-time GRAMMY-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who is responsible for co-writing some of the most memorable songs of the past decade to light up the Billboard charts, totaling more than 25 million singles globally, including the biggest selling single of 2010: Eminem’s “Love the Way You Lie,” which earned her GRAMMY Award nominations for Best Song and Best Rap Song of the Year. She also co-wrote and appeared on Dr. Dre’s “I Need A Doctor,” which she performed alongside Dre and Eminem on the 2011 GRAMMY Awards telecast and for which she was nominated for two GRAMMY Awards.

Grey’s journey to this point has been studded with highs and lows. She was born Holly Brook Hafermann in the village of Mazomanie, Wisconsin, a town so tiny it does not have a stoplight. Grey began performing professionally at age six with her mother as a folk duo, and by the age of 14 had released three independent albums. In middle school, exhausted from the ridicule by her peers, Grey went solo and began writing her own music, eventually quitting high school her junior year to move to Los Angeles and devote herself to becoming a serious artist. After releasing a major label solo album as Holly Brook in 2006 that didn’t accurately reflect Grey, she asked to end her recording deal and took to the road with Duncan Sheik, playing keyboards in his band as an outlet to express herself musically. She worked her way up the California central coast, eventually settling in Oregon, isolating herself in a cabin in the woods where she again began writing music. This adventure inspired the name change and allowed Grey to evolve as an artist, musician and songwriter and has led her to produce a comprehensive album reflecting her personality in every fulfilling way she has dreamed.

American Idol Season 12 Coming To An Awkward Close: A Look At Nicki/Mariah Beef & Randy Jackson’s Departure

American Idol Team Season 12

One of the biggest stories to hit the world of music last week was all the news surrounds everything going on with American Idol’s 12th season coming to a close.  The season’s end has brought an intense focus to the relationship problems of the judges, and how it relates to the show’s future.  Randy Jackson, Idol’s only remaining original judge released a statement announcing his up coming departure last Thursday.  You can read Jackson’s official statement below.

“To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on American Idol I have decided it is time to leave after this season,” Jackson said in a statement. “I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry. It’s been a life changing opportunity, but I am looking forward to focusing on my company Dream Merchant 21 and other business ventures.”

Jackson’s announcement surfaced among the rumors that Fox is looking to retool the show’s Judging panel completely, and dismiss everyone else too. This would include Mariah Carey. Carey, who has been a longtime friend of Jackson’s was managed by him up until very recently.  Jackson told E! News exclusively, that in addition to him leaving the show, he will no longer be her manger.  Specifics on the reason for their split aren’t officially disclosed.

True to form, it seems that the only entertainment reporter getting what appears to be honest info on everything surrounding the show’s rumors is the Idol  host Ryan Seacrest.  He sat down with outspoken judge Nicki Minaj to discuss the conflict between her and Mariah on an E! News exclusive.  If you want to see what the drama was all about this may be the interview to watch.  Find the video embedded below.

We’ll do our best to keep you up to date on any news surrounding the show’s changes.  Right now there are rumors that, in addition to inserting a new judges panel, long time executive producer Nigel Lythgoe is looking for the door as well. Kree Harrison and Candice Glover begin competing to be this year’s American Idol on Wednesday. Will you be watching?
