Britney Spears’ “Piece of Me” Is The Place To Be

Since the late ‘90s she’s made a life style out of being a sensation who’s job is to blow her way up the charts, and lately die hard Britney Spears fans have been able to see why in the whole new experience of her recently debuted Las Vegas residency show.  While many of us were focused on what our new start would be with this years’ New Years resolutions, Britney already had her own new beginning well underway a few days early.  On November 29^th she released her eighth and most personal studio album to date, “Britney Jean” and followed it with an E! Documentary “I Am Britney Jean”, which aired on December 22^nd. The documentary featured behind the scenes footage of Britney getting ready for her Vegas residency, as well as a behind the scenes look at her latest videos ‘Work b*tch’ and ‘Perfume’.  As if that wasn’t enough, the icing on the cake was the exclusive interviews that was also featured in this documentary. Why? As a Britney fan since the “…Baby One More Time” days, it was very interesting to see this new candid, personal side of her. In the interviews Britney talks about how she is actually a very shy person, and her on stage persona is somewhat of a “bipolar disorder.” I loved it because through the documentary, she showed us  how dedicated Britney is to her craft, that she is truly a perfectionist, and why Will.i. Am so confidently describes her as, “a true performer”.

Fast forward to December 27^th; Vegas became Britney’s city when her residency began. On opening night Planet Hollywood was filled with a star-studded audience that included, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Mario Lopez and Selena Gomez. Mario was even pulled up on stage during the show for what looked to be a wild time. Luckily he posted a photo on his Twitter, so I thought it would be fun to share it with you guys. Although fans can clearly expect to watch Britney perform the hits, the show is live, so they may see some other things too.  Following the show’s debut, there have been wardrobe malfunctions, but being the pro that she is, Britney gracefully worked through them with style. Based on the reviews it is safe to say that ‘Piece of Me’ has something for everyone, unless you are expecting music from Britney Jean, which seems to have taken a backseat when the track list was made. It includes seven wardrobe changes, and two wig changes.

In it you get a sneak peek of the venue Britney is performing in, a tree that measures about three stories, and massive screens that feature videos. These massive production aids  help the audience feel as if they are in the  show not just watching it in front of them.  It is an event!

Britney Spears is one of the most successful pop artists of all time, so you may be wondering, why do a Vegas residency instead of a tour? Britney says that she’s ready to settle down. She wants a home for her two sons, Sean Preston, 8, and Jayden James, 7. That may lead to a residency of a whole different kind. She’s recently gone on record saying that she may also be settling down with her current beau David Lucado. A great show and a happy and healthy personal life?
