The Female focused Lifetime Network has inked a three-year deal with Billboard to broadcast the magazine’s Women In Music event for the first time in its 10-year history. The award show, who’s past honorees include Taylor Swift, Aretha Franklin, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea, Jessie J, Charli XCX and Idina Menzel, is set to be pretaped at Cipriani Midtown in New York City on Dec. 18th. Billboard has already announced that they plan to celebrate Lady Gaga as 2015’s woman of the year.
“We’re delighted to partner with Billboard on this special event, bringing it to a mass audience for the first time ever,” says Liz Gateley, executive vice president and head of programming at Lifetime. “Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognize her in every way she deserves.”
Don Mischer Productions, of several Billboard Music Awards, Oscars, Emmys, and the last two Super Bowl halftime show productions, will be at the helm of the inaugural telecast. Fans can watch it when it hits the airwaves on December 18th. Details about other event honorees will be announced as the air date approaches. Stay tuned.
