R&B singer/song writer/producer/actress, Beyonce Knowles is back in the world of music with a new single! She returns with a song that screams Beyonce style with another jam about women empowerment, “Run The World (Girls).” Just as the title suggests, “Run The World (Girls)” is another Beyonce’ song that has an aggressive message about the female’s role in a relationship. This is something Knowles has become known for as far back as some of the very early Destiny’s Child singles like, “Bills, Bills, Bills” and “Bug A Boo.” The formula continued most notably for Destiny’s Child with “Independent Women Part I”, from the 2000 film Charlie’s Angels.  Her musical direction of  unappologetic empowerment reached its peak in popularity in her solo career in 2008 with “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).”  The song’s video was “one of the best videos of all time” according to a ranting Kanye West at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Plus the video was parodied by the likes of Justin Timberlake on SNL, and even Liza Minnelli in the film Sex And The City 2.

While critics opinions towards Beyonce’s musical direction are obviously divided, this one is clearly another one in that tradition. It was written by Terius “The-Dream” Nash, Knowles, Nick “Afrojack” van de Wall, Wesley “Diplo” Pentz, David “Switch” Taylor, and Adidja Palmer and production was handled by Switch, Knowles and Shea Taylor. It also samples “Pon de Floor” by Major Lazer. The song originally surfaced in the public when,an unedited demo of the song leaked on the internet on April 18, 2011. In response Columbia Records officially released “Run the World (Girls)” on April 21, 2011 as the lead single from her yet-to-be-titled fourth studio album. The untitled project follows Knowles’ 2008 quadruple platinum album, I Am….Sasha Fierce.
