Testimony took off on the strength of a quartet of advance hit tracks that were featured on August’s debut EP of 2014, Downtown: Life Under The Gun: “Ghetto” featuring Rich Homie Quan (over 11.3 million YouTube views to date); “Downtown” featuring Kidd Kidd; “I Luv This Sh*t” featuring Trinidad James; and “Let Me Hit That” featuring fellow NOLA native son Curren$y. Following the album release came “Make It Home”featuring fellow Def Jam artist Jeezy.
“I Luv This Sh*t” went on to win the highly competitive Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award at the 14thannual BET Awards (where August also won Best New Artist honors). In the afterglow, August premiered the video for “Benediction” featuring fellow Def Jam artist Rick Ross, from Testimony. August’s first major 20-city headlining U.S. tour took place in August-September 2014, follow-up to the 21-city 2 Good 2 Be T.R.U.
