Producer of Ashley Dupre’s “What We Want”
Releases Second Statement
Atlanta, GA – Simon Illa, the man who produced the track for the heavily downloaded Ashley Dupre song “What We Want”, is releasing a second statement addressing inquiries about the music.
On his time working with the singer/songwriter Ashley Dupre, Simon Illa says, “The majority of my studio work with Ashley was done over a year ago (late ’06 early ’07) in Philadelphia. Ashley, as a vocalist and writer, is still a work in progress. She has raw vocal talent, and like most singers has to take the time to develop that talent into what we would hear on a commercially viable record. The two recordings Ashley and I worked on (“What We Want” and “Move Ya Body”), which have made their way around the world, are works in progress as well. From what I have heard, they are later versions of in-progress demos we collaborated on and in my professional opinion, are not industry-ready recordings.”
Producing music since his early teens, Simon Illa’s works have received awards and accolades. Legendary producers/writers, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, took Simon under their wing to develop several artists and from that point, Simon Illa’s reputation for producing music within numerous genres grew. His work spans from Pop to Rap and Gospel to Rock (and everything in between). He earned a 2003 East Coast Emmy nomination for music for the NBC “Tribute to 9-11”, was dubbed “Philadelphia’s Hottest Producer” by Blender Magazine in 2006 and called “…one of the world’s foremost and phenomenal musical producers” by Urban Mogul Magazine in 2008. His extensive list of production credits include various artists, soundtracks (“American Rap Stars”, “Invincible”, and “G”) as well as tour production for Vivian Green and Floetry. Simon Illa has also created music for Major League Baseball, the NFL and a handful of radio and television outlets. Simon Illa recently made an appearance on TLC’s hit television series “Miami Ink” and works under the guidance of Murray Media Music Corporation in Atlanta, GA.
