Artist Of The Month: Bazzi

Andrew Bazzi is an American singer-songwriter known professionally as Bazzi. His song “Mine”, released in October 2017, gained popularity in early 2018 when it became an Internet meme through the use of a Snapchat lens filter with the song. As of March 2018, it has peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has appeared on several other international charts.

Bazzi has quickly become known an inventive and inspired pop craftsman, wedding hypnotic hooks, expansive production, and lush instrumentation into his own indefinable sound and vision. Born to a Lebanese immigrant father and American mother in Dearborn, MI and currently based in Los Angeles, the talented tunesmith first made waves with hugely popular independent online releases including “Beautiful” and “Alone.”
Meanwhile, “Mine” has become a massive pop success, after reaching #1 on Apple Music’s Pop Streaming chart, Shazam’s Global Top 100, and both Spotify’s US Viral 50 and Global Viral 50 charts. The sultry single – which is presently earning 30 million weekly streams with a total worldwide streaming number exceeding 240 million to date and sale equivalents exceeding 1 million in the US alone Also the “Mine” companion video is an equally a  sensation, now boasting over 31 million views via YouTube alone.

Written by Bazzi and co-produced with Rice N Peas, “Mine” was released to critical acclaim – praised as a “hypnotic track” by Rap-Up while Billboard declared that “(Bazzi) could very well be on his way to rocking arenas” and MTV echoing “2018 in music has been off to a pretty great start, thanks in no small part to Bazzi.” The single has received an outpour of co-signs from his peers, including the likes of K-pop sensations BTS, Taylor Swift, DRAM, Liam Payne and more. Bazzi also recently teamed up with Beats by Dre for a look behind the creation of “Mine” via their Beat X Beat video series, streaming now on YouTube.

Following that success, iamcosmic in partnership with Atlantic Records had recently announced Bazzi’s eagerly anticipated debut album  which includes, “Mine”, arriving Thursday, April 12th at all music retailers and streaming services.

The forthcoming album is heralded by the new track, “Honest,” (Above)  It is also  joined by a compelling vintage-inspired video, streaming now!. In addition, the album will feature a pair of recently released tracks – “Why” and “Gone” – both of which expertly build upon Bazzi’s signature Detroit R&B/pop sound.

Bazzi will celebrate the album release with a busy live schedule, including performance as special guest on Camila Cabello’s sold out “Never Be The Same” North American tour (kicking off April 9th in Vancouver, BC). This summer will see the announce of more live dates, including Manchester, TN’s Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival (June 10th) and a just announced performance at Chicago, IL’s Lollapalooza (August 2-5th).
