As it was emphasized through the performance of a Broadway version of Green Day’s “21 Guns” during last months Grammy’s, American Idiot, the famed concept album from Green Day will in fact be making a run as a Theatrical play. What none of us were able to anticipate however, was what impressing “The nicest guy in Hollywood” would have on it. Reports have been exploding across the web all day, that Tom Hanks is currently in the process of enlisting his production company, Playtone Productions to transform the still budding musical into a full length feature film. When it comes to film concepts, Hanks is a man after the Clizbeats heart! In addition to American Idiot, his musically oriented filmography includes 1996′ “That Thing You Do”, a story of a home town band’s rise to fame as 1960’s Rock & Roll Stars. Playtone’s proven ability of good music themed story telling, success of interpreting musicals through their production of “Momma Mia”, and Hanks’ overall instincts for good films, shows great promise for the record breaking album turned feature. This is truly exciting!
