As projected, Nielsen confirmed on Friday that Adele’s 25 album has sold a million copies in its second week. With an additional 1.16 million units added to her already historic debut of 3.38 million units sold, 25 is the only album to sell at least one million copies in two separate weeks since Soundscan was founded in 1991. According to Billboard, 25 has 30% of all music sold the United States for the last two weeks. In total it has sold an impressive 4.49 million copies since its release on November 20th.
1.88 million of those copies came from digital retailers, making it the third-best selling digital release ever. Her previous album 21 beat 25 as the top selling digital album of all time, with 3.19 million copies. Justin Bieber was a respectable runners up on the charts, as his album Purpose held steady in the number 2 position.
