E! News reported exclusively on July 8th that American Idol alum turned Pop star Adam Lambert was in talks with the show about becoming a judge on the show
“They have been talking about Adam for over a month,” a source exclusively tells E! News. “He personifies the show, and will be a popular choice right from the start. He knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of the judges’ comments, he has a human touch, and they know they can’t go wrong if they bring him on. He would be able to bring a unique perspective to the show. People love him.”
When the media got wind of this possibility they promptly asked Lambert about the possibility. In an interview with British radio station Capital FM, Lambert appeared to come off as surprised as some Idol spectators. “I’m just hearing about this today as well and so what a beautiful rumor,” Lambert told the station. “Listen, if — and I say ‘if’ with a capital I-F — if they were to approach me and if they were to say, ‘We want you to be a judge on the show,’ I would love that. I would jump at the chance.”
Adam responded to the news even further by releasing an official statement about the rumored judging position yesterday. It stated: “Idol has an amazing history of introducing great musical talent, and I was very fortunate to have had the Idol stage play a big part in my career. If Idol wants to talk to me about Judging, I’d be more than flattered to have that conversation.”
We will keep you posted if we learn of any new details about the American Idol Judging panel for season 12.
