A Second Look At Mariah Carey’s Interview With Barbara Walters
ABC News’ Nightline aired an interview by Barbara Walters with Mariah Carey this week, and without missing a beat the two fell back into the hot topic that tabloids have been eating up with a spoon for months now. As some of you may already know Barbara went right for it, asking Carey about the her feud with Young Money rapper turned Pop music sensation Nicki Minaj and their shared position as judges on American Idol. Viewers were even treated to the rare surreal occasion of the 83 year old Walters referencing Minaj’s rhymed lyrics in an attempt to point out a very lightly implied reference to Mariah.
The song being combed through by Walters watchful eye is called “Hell Yeah”and it features Parker. It comes from the rerelease of her second album called Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up. Our assessment is that the song’s reference is actually kinda tame, and done in competitive nature. If the previously reported allegations made by Minaj about Carey are true, then all she’s doing is stating her side of the story. Actually after listening to the song and it’s lyrics, we find the most entertaining thing about this story is the fact that Barbara Walters took time to examine it in the first place.
Mariah also discussed the reported fact that she did hire extra security after a heated argument with Minaj resulted in verbal threats. It is important to note that American Idol’s 12th season starts next week, and the two diva’s just so happen to have made up with each other now. Was this all media hype strategically designed to breath new life into the long running series? We’re not close enough to the situation enough to comment. All we can say is that if one desired Minaj and Carey’s relationship can be traced publicly back at least 3 years, because of the them collaborating on the song and music video for “Up Out My Face”. They didn’t start disliking each other until TMZ’s airing of a cleverly placed camera phone while auditions were being taped in October of last year. Do they need to learn how to play better with others, or did we play right into their hands? Click Here to watch the video.
