Do you remember the 2006 number 1 hit “Hey There Delilah”?  It was the love letter song of sorts written by Tom Higgenson of the band The Plain White T’s. Its success broke their third studio album All That We needed into the Pop mainstream, making them stars after playing together in one form or another since 1997.  It helped earn them the opportunity to be up-streamed to a joint venture deal between their Fearless Records and Disney’s Hollywood Records.  Hollywood released the band’s 4th album Every Second Counts. Also featuring “Hey There Delilah,” the album was certified Gold by the RIAA, and proved that love songs equal success for Plain White T’s.

This fact was clearly not lost on the band when they released “1, 2, 3, 4” as part of their 5th album Big Bad World.  Once again Tom professed his love through song, and featured the song’s muse “Angie,” in a music video narrative related to how they met in Chicago.  It resulted in the song selling 1 million digital unites, and helping them break back into the Top 40.

T’s vocalist/guitarist Tim Lopez took over singing and writing duties for their 2010 single “Rhythm Of Love.”  He too found success in the love song theme. “Rhythm Of Love” went on to break the top 40 of The Hot 100, and became a Top 5 Adult Contemporary platinum level hit. He apparently hasn’t been as lucky about love in his personal life.

According to the new NBC dating show that he’s participating in, he is “Ready For Love.”  Tim is one of three guys that were teamed up matchmakers in hopes of finding a girl with the chemistry that fits their wants and needs.  Perhaps Tim is indirectly on the hunt for more musical inspiration.  We’ll just have to keep our eyes pealed to the show for any hints of hits in the making.

Hopefully Tim doesn’t put too much pressure on himself though.  After all, his band-mate Tom wrote a number 1 hit for Delilah, and the two went on to be “just friends.”  We dug up this old interview the real life Delilah did with NBC’s “Today” Show . It was very sweet.   Check it out below.

While we wait to see what happens for Tim, the music is still flowing for the T’s.  Last week they released their latest single “Should’ve Gone To Bed” to iTunes.  Take a listen below and see what you think.  Best of luck on finding personal fulfillment TIm.
