A Deeper Look At Kevin Richardson’s Reunion With The Backstreet Boys
Backstreet Boys On ABC's Good Morning America On August 31st 2012
In case you missed it check out the Backstreet Boys really cool recent performance on ABC’s Good Morning America below. They guys performed to a packed crowd in New York City’s Central Park, helping conclude GMA’s summer concert series on August 31st. The performance was special because as many fans know it was the group’s first since reuniting with the group’s oldest member, Kevin Richardson, who left the group in 2006. The last Backstreet Boys album to feature vocals from Kevin was, Never Gone which was released on June 14th, 2005 by Jive Records, which went on to be certified platinum. The last Backstreet music video Kevin appeared in was for “I Still”, the third single released from Never Gone, from January of 2006. Shortly after that Kevin left the group to peruse other projects, including starring as Billy Flynn in Chicago on Broadway. Kevin and his wife Kristin Richardson also welcomed their first child together, Mason Frey Richardson, on July 3, 2007,
Since Kevin’s departure from the group, the Backstreet Boys continued on as a quartet, and released two albums without him in 2007 (Unbreakable) and 2009. (This Is Us) The four Boys also joined up New Kids On The Block in the summer of 2011 to form the super group, NKOTBSB. The four later announced the pending return of Kevin to the group during their NKOTBSB performance in London on April 29th, 2012. Away from performing on GMA, Kevin has also been joining the his band mates in the studio to contribute to the group’s forthcoming 2013 eighth studio album. On August 18rh, 2012 NKOTBSB gave their last scheduled performance together headlining the 2012 Mixtape Festival, but not before hinting at a new version of NKOTBSB coming soon including Kevin as well. He will also join the group on their 2013 20th Anniversary Cruise to the Bahamas.
