While the lyrics of Lloyd’s third single off of King of Hearts are enough to create interest and curiosity into “Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)” on its own, the release of Dedication’s video has only further peaked interest into Lloyd’s latest release.

Artistically speaking the video is a gem.  The video itself is set back in the 1950’s or 60’s and features the well dressed crooner singing in what seems to be a high school garage band.  The video also features a guest spot by funny man Wayne Brady who puts a face to Lil Wayne’s spoken word portion of the audio track.

The takeaway moment from this video however comes to us courtesy of the rapping pussycat who mouths out the Andre 3000 verse.  And if you for some reason did not see the not so subtlety placed symbology here, I suggest you listen to the quite differently worded album version of the song.  Although I will warn you, much like Cee Lo Green’s “Forget You” the word substitutions make for quite the difference in how the song comes across.  Besides understanding the symbolic meaning behind Andre’s verse being taken over by the feline, this part of the video is oh so reminiscent of another video featuring Andre 3000, the one released for the Grammy Award winning song “Ms. Jackson” with his fellow Outkast member Big Boi.

Be sure to check out the video for “Dedication To My Ex (Miss That)” and if you enjoy the song, be sure to support Lloyd by getting his fourth album King of Hearts which is available now.
